Great articles for sure. There is also a very good part,  the "essential reading for those who are thinking about getting started in astronomy",  which is the pinned thread at the top of this "getting started general help and advice" section of the forum.; good to see it posted here also.

The articles I just had a glance at were all written by a long standing S&T writer.

All based on a wealth of experience.

Just starting out myself and this line got my attention: "Astronomy teaches patience and humility -- and you'd better be prepared to learn them."

Patience definitely not my strong point nor would I say in abundance throughout the modern world for that matter.

From experience I would tend to agree, that patience is not a strong point nor in abundance in this modern world.
