Prominence activity, 14th Jan 2008

Hi all,

Here's a PST mosaic of some nice prominence activity on the western limb of the Sun today.

Hi Supernova,

The images (there are 3 for the surface and 2 for the prominences) were captured using a Lumenera SKYnyx 2-0M camera fitted to a 3x Barlow. The whole assembly is then inserted into the PST; no eyepieces were used.

Superb image Pete I love the surface granularity. My 18 Month old son was sitting on may lap whilst i was looking at the picture he pointed at the screen and said 'HOT'. He go that right

Doh!

I trotted out the solar scope Sunday under great seeing, slightly breezy skies. Saw no visible activity and pondered pulling out the Ha refractor, but didn't. Now, I wish I had. Thanks for that, Pete.
