Galloway Spring Star Party

Recommended Posts

We are pleased to anounce the 2014 Spring Galloway starparty to be run from Thursday 20th February 2014 until Monday 24th February 2014 (4 nights).

The event location is as usual Lesley and Ralph Shell`s superb campsite:  http://www.drumroamin.co.uk/

Please book direct with  campsite.

Costs are held at £14/electric hookup per night and £12/ non-electric.

For those of you who have not attended a Galloway s/p see this link from last months Autumn event

it gives great insight to the skies in Galloway.

I am posting this on behalf of Steve Foy who hopes to be able to attend the event but has at  the moment a very busy schedule,

Extra nights are available if you fancy a longer stay.

This event runs nicely in to the Kielder Spring Party which starts on February 25th,so why not make a round trip and take in both events.

It has been said before but the journey is well worth effort...

Any questions please p/m me Mike Chastney and i will try to help.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Regards

Mike

Hi Adrian, sorry you won`t be there we  will probably be in  need of a bailer or harbour master, talked to Lesley last night they have had it wet but at least it`s getting colder and hopefully by next week it will have  improved.

I will keep you up to date on the state of play.

Look after yourself and i will see you soon.

Regards

Mike

Hi Max,well worth the trip for the skies alone. As for the weather, when it`s wet it`s wet and can be very windy, very good facilities on site, including a comfortable lounge, great showers.

You will find a friendly crowd at GSParties,so the prospect of turning up alone is mitigated somewhat.

I will be onsite from Wednesday and will post weather \site  condition asap.

If it  then rains for 4 days then the whiskey tasting classes will be well attended! .

OH and did i mention the skies.

Any info required just ask.

Regards

Mike

Hi Max,

Dark skies are guaranteed, you cannot see your hand in front of your face on a rainy night.

With clear skies, it is brilliant, great viewing, Jupiter is hard to see through the billions of stars.

Great views of the Milky Way.

I travel 800 miles return trip to see the stars.

Oh, whiskey tasting is a specialised art practiced to great effect.

The attendees are mainly from Scotland and North of England and are a great bunch. If you find it difficult to make friends, they will rectify that!

We also do shared meals etc.

Unfortunately, I cannot attend this time , but Mike is an excellent host.

Enjoy yourself.

Cheers

Adrian

Hi Folks,

Mike arrived at the campsite at 16:45 today.

He has had lamb livers etc for tea.

He is now in the process of setting a better broadband signal at the site.

The weather there at the moment is not brilliant....

He is looking forward to the rest of you arriving.

Trust clear skies will arrive as well.

Cheers

Adrian

Thanks for letting us know ,AS69,

Morning all, a lovely bright morning greeted me this morning,a fresh breeze blowing, and oddly mild, pitchs have been wet but are now drying nicely.

Safe journey for anyone travelling today, loads of roadworks on A75,and the camera vans are active.

Forecast iffy but what do we care,or the weathermen know?

Regards

Mike
