The Slippery Squid

I tried to image this object last year but had all sorts of problems with collimation and mirror flop with the C6 HyperStar.  Finally this year after many mods and much harsh language I was able to give it another bash with a now much more stable scope.  

So here it is, Nicolas Outters' planetary nebula first found in May 2011, taken though Ha and O III filters and processed as a HOO image.  I also took 24 600 sec S II frames but decided against a normal Hubble palette as the result looked horribly neon.

Great result, I guess it's dim as hell in O3.

Thanks Mark, dim as hell is about right, the first run of 600 second OIII subs barely showed the subject so I had to follow up with longer subs the next night.

That is one amazing image.How you have pulled out the Delicate detail in that Bubble,beats me.Also all the surounding emission Gases,show really well against the Planetary.

Super capture of an incredibly faint image. This was on my list for this year, but the weather defeated me. I hope that people realise just how faint this really is - A stonking image!
