Elephant's trunk, another try at NB

My affection for pink stars is over. True to the original as they may be, I now conform with the majority on the issue.

Next step will be a departure from overly colourful processing - but I'm not quite ready for that yet.

I though I'd share a go at the Elephant's trunk. The Ha is good, but the OIII and SII was captured in bad haze, so this is perhaps more an experiment rather than something I'd label as even close to 'Final'.

Thanks Per, but eagle eyed as you are, you will quickly notice that the lower left corner is entirely blue. That should really have the amber hue. This is due to really questionable data for OIII and SII, where the stacks had to be stretched to the edge of reason, introducing artefacts across the board.

One day I'll redo this with better data I hope and I kick myself for not grabbing the whole lot on Ha night. Not so in the future...

Yes, looks like you have some kind of artifact in the lower left corner running up the side of the image, if your flats aren't correcting it then it could be caused by the haze you describe. I find the colour balance too red, a quick run through colour calibration in pixinsight cleaned it up a treat.

Having said all that, you have an excellent image there for your time and trouble, I certainly wish my early narrowband images were as good as this!!!

That's very nice I now very little about narrowband imaging but it looks like that's a great start to me
