Meteor 00:48GMT 17Sept2013?? caught on vid

Possible mv bright and v v long lived meteor caught on video http://flic.kr/p/fVDHfz . Anyone see this or report it?? I have eye witness account of "v bright and colourful shooting star that then broke up..", for same time and direction.

Is it not a bit slow? Could it be the re-entry of some rocket booster of a satellite launch?

yep! it is exceptionally long lived, so may well be something else! But its v strange looking...not like the  usual planes or sats that gets picked up.

It does seem very slow to me for a meteorite.  I think Michael's explanation is more likely.

Hi Tim, its a commercial CCTV cam, but with IR lights disabled . Records to commercial CCTV recorder DVR. "motion sensing" recording enabled so it stores to disc moving objects. Mostly planes and satellites! This trace looks quite diff to normal sat and planes though. A fireball was recorded at 00:38 ish by others. Its v hard to see why a meteor would last as long as the vid suggests. The abs timing on the vid may be off..I'll check that later.

Think it looks to slow for a meteor but agree it does look very interesting

Current opinions are its most likely either an Earth grazing meteor, which can appear very slow or its "space debris" . The timestamps are accurate.

Can give more details on the h/w and stup if people are interested..
