Noctilucent Clouds from Stafford

Recommended Posts

Did not expect to see anything last night as there were no signs of activity at 23:15. Before going to bed had one last look and I could see some activity close to the horizon. First sighting for me this year

Thanks, the first image I tried to upload was 2850x750 and 930kb but it must have shrunk in the wash  It was a super night here with lovely transparent seeing. The display stretched 60 degrees across the northern horizon.

lovely, I can remember seeing them years ago when I had little to no interest in astronomy but have yet to see or image them in recent years. Great work, what camera settings did you use out of interest?

I used a Canon G9 400iso and 8sec for the first, wide angle (stitched) shot and 13sec 400iso on the other. I knew nothing about noctilucent clouds until 2005 when I spotted them by accident when out with the scope. The next time was several years later in 2009 and since then have kept an eye on the northern horizon during June/July. This is from June 2005.
