First Saturn attempt and second attempt

Hi! This is my first and second Saturn photos. First one was taken through a DSLR camera and the second was taken through a webcam with a 2x Barlow lens. :-)

Thanks :-D Celestron C8 XLT with Philips SPC900 webcam attached to a 2x barlow lens! Never thought webcams were that good, how wrong was I?

Yeah after seeing your attempt and that of others with the SPC900, I'm going to keep my eye out for one, definitely seems worth it!

They definitely are worth it! This was taken with 1,700 frames which is 2m30s worth of video. I might take some more next time the skies open.

The SPC900 image is very good. Well done!

If the DSLR image was from a video stack, the poorer quality could be because DSLRs compress the video files in order to save them to the card quick enough to keep up with the high frame rate (similar to running the SPC900 at 30+ fps). Running the SPC900 at 5 or 10 fps allows it to save the full information to your laptop without compression which looses image data and therefore quality.

Yup, keep at it with the SPC900. It has its faults, but it is a good camera.
