DId you manage a picture of the collapsible Dob, Graham?

There's a very shaky Youtube vid from NEAF 2012 if you Google "Explore Scientific Dobsonian" that pops up in the top half dozen results.

I'm hoping Graham managed to grab some piccies too, if only so I can see the paint job you glimpse in the Youtube clip. Black or white, it ain't!

i am thinking it is going to be something like this:

looks very similar to Hubble optics ones,the only difference is the rocker box.If you look closely,then it is a proper box with a lid what you can close after the trusses have been removed.

Ah, thanks. Not at foxy as a Sumerian, but then I suppose it will depend on the price they're going to be asking for it.

Is it me? Or would anyone else have trouble using that 'scope (can it be set up differently)?

Similar to L/R handedness, I'm very much a Right Eye Observer, my left just isn't as good. How would I use the finderscope?

i would hold my breath on this one as i am sure this is only a very rough prototype and they will have a final play with it before it goes out in production.i agree,i am not a fan of this set up either.

What's to stop you simply fixing the secondary OTA on at a different angle?

You wouldnt have anywhere to put the finder, or it could go on top but it would be pretty awkward to use!!

Nothing, I'm just still trying to work out a comfy angle! 

If you fitted it on the opposite side, the finder would then be in the bottom quarter.

Isn't the gap just as viewing window?

There's one the other side too! Seems to be opposite the focuser, a little strange. Maybe it was put together in the dark! 

There is a note saying, "Do not touch." maybe we should just leave it be?

I saw the demo version of that scope at the astro show and it was a normal configuration.  not sure why that imge shows it as a left handed version.
