Just taken this moon picture?

Hi all

Hope you all have clear skies tonight like i have.

I have just taken a cam shot of the moon, (could have been a better focus) but still,.... Can someone tell me what part I am looking at? Also, does it have a name?

Looks to me to be part of the Mare Nectaris........and the crater is Piccolomini. Nice feature. Most likely i am wrong.

The mountain chain is part of the Appenines and the crater is Eratosthenes. Virtual Moon Atlas is a useful program to help you indentify lunar features http://www.ap-i.net/avl/en/start

I agree with this, I was looking at it only an hour ago! Apennines are number four on the Lunar 100 if that helps.

Hi Paul,

Not far from Swansea. Why not come along to our meetings at the uni. Good picture and if you're patient enough you could do the whole moon and stitch them together with microsoft ICE program.
