Thanks Mike

I'm a bit sad in as much as I know my entire imaging setup weighs 8.4 Kg so I was really pushing the eq3.

It was especially noticeable when targets were high up. Lots of star trails and the mount took ages to settle down.

I wouldn't have minded a Galloway Burger to be honest ....... I had the pleaure of Tom's homemade Chilli :angry4: (right on my limit !!)

Hopefully clear on Friday, so I may have an outing with the new mount.

You'll need to see the work Tom's done so far on M51 !

Had an email preview today and looking really good.

I know he doesn't pop on SGL that often so I 'll get away with my chilli comment above

Cheers

Neil

My 12 year old daughter eats that chilli without breaking a sweat!

M51 is a real favourite of mine, so it was good to have a chance to image it on the Saturday night. 'Yorkshire Steve' dropped by in the wee small hours and with all the yakking and drinking I forgot about the time and ended up collecting lots of nice subs to stack for this one .

Slowly getting to grips with the processing side of things now, so I'll pop more images from the weekend into the Gallery as I work through them, but I'm pleased with this one as a starter.

Cheers,

Tom

Tom... great image, you picked out some nice mottling there in the spiral arms, nice colour too. Subs in the region of 5 - 10 mins at 800iso are a  good range depending on sky clarity and air temperature. No great benefit from longer exposures unless cooled camera ...just more noise from heat build up, exposures shorter don't really get quite deep enough from a dark sky site though multiple shorter exposures are smoother.

Neil

Seems you got rumbled by masterchef    ...surely hot chilli's a good thing when the weathers chilly!

Hope you're pleased with the new mount!

....well there was plenty of refreshments available to wash it down

Yeah new mount good. I've re-done all my cables into a new loom so it's easy to connect up.

And of course I had to buy ANOTHER eqdir cable as the one for the eq 3 is different ! But I'm sure I can claw back a few pennies by selling the old one.

Looking forward to using it all.

Well guys here are a few links to some images i have processed so far from the Galloway star camp.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10727255205/  This is my first image of the Horsehead and Flame Nebula taken on Wednesday night.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10741063356/ This is Comet Lovejoy imaged Wednesday night.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10741796783/  This is M31 imaged on the Thursday night under poor seeing conditions and not very well processed but i added more data to this on Friday night adding a total of 5hrs 45mins in total but still yet to process with the extra data.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10743925125/  This one of M42 and M43 was taken on the Thursday night under poor seeing conditions hence the halo's around everything.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10757122366/  Here is a time lapse i made of Comet lovejoy from Wednesday night.

Still processing some data from the Friday night but here's a time lapse i did of my scope while imaging from Friday night. http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10805204034/

Saturday nights imaging run was very successful as i acquired many targets some i have yet still to process but here's the ones i have done.

M81 and M82 http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10807248684/

Here's a wider FOV of M81, M82 and NGC3077 and NGC2976  http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10807696066/

M33 from Saturday night  http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10808516396/

Comet ISON from Saturday night with a Satellite in FOV  http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10805455155/

Also caught a very bright meteor Saturday while doing a time lapse fly past Jupiter this was about Mag -5 http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/10772081985/

Hope you all like my Images and if you'd like to check out all my images i've done check out my flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/astronomer69/with/10805455155/  and follow me on Twitter @astronomer69 of i've got a facebook page on facebook called Kieran's Astrophotography page so please like my page to keep upto date with all my images.

Those are amazing images Kieran, thanks for posting them all - I especially like the time lapse of Lovejoy, M42/43 and your wide field M81/82!!

Was going to upload some images taken at the Star camp but i havent got the foggiest on how to upload them to SGL.

There's 2 ways to do this either click the 'More reply options' at the bottom of the thread then below 'Attach Files' click 'Choose Files' and upload direct to SGL from your PC.
Alternatively on Flikr click on 'More ways to share' (little box with arrow icon below each picture) then click on 'grab the HTML/BBCode' then click on BBCode select size and then simply copy then past the code into the SGL reply (or drag and drop into the reply) and once you click on 'Preview Post' the image should appear instead of the code. Like this.....
TEST KIERAN'S IMAGE M42/43  SIZE 'MEDIUM 500' -

A fine selection of images Kieran ...well done, you sure were busy...leave some objects for the rest of us!

Like Steve I enjoyed your timelapse Lovejoy ...nicely done indeed, also your Horsehead caught my eye too, although there is light fall-off to the corners due to your imaging setup the overall quality is very good!  :icon_cool:

Still processing my images too... :icon_neutral:

That's absolutely amazing Kieran, what a great way to show all the images. I'd imagine Steve (dweebostar) who organizes the event would want to link to your video when he starts the thread for next years event as it would be a brilliant way to advertise it!!

I'll also add a link to your video on my observing group forum as there were a good few of us there!! It would also be worth posting a link in the main imaging section on SGL as that way more folks would get a chance to see it as well.

oh and BTW both links work fine, with You Tube the video gets embedded into the thread...
