My little scope

Lovely Scope Mick! Have you taken any photos through it yet?

I notice you've got it mounted on a "Velbon" tripod. What model?

I have the "DV 7000" and have had a Skywatcher 80T (1.5kg weight) short tube refractor mounted on it, but I found the tripod head would not hold the scope in the vertical axis at any angle over 75 degrees. The scope gradually tilted back - unless I tightened the "thumb" screw so tight that it was difficult to unscrew. Do you have any difficulties with this axis?

I would be interested to know.

Regards,

Phil Edwards (phislail1)

Incidently, I have now sold the Skywatcher and intend to buy a Skywatcher 90 Maksutov - this is a lighter scope (1.37kg) so it may be better.

A very nicely engineered scope is that Mick, and with a good reputation too.

BTW, I have a Slik 5000DX tripod, which I bought primarily for use with my 30D, but I did use it very successfully with a PST. Am quite impressed with the build quality of the Slik.
