Rumpelstiltleg
I need some advice about a suitable mount. I have a WO 110 APO triplet and have just bought an SBIG STF 8300M ccd. Will a HEQ5 handle reload or should I go for the EQ6?Any advice much appreciated.MikeSent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
swag72
In my opinion you can never be undermounted. If the ££'s are not an issue, go for the EQ6 or the NEQ6.
nightfisher
If you can afford it go for EQ6 and future proof the mount
Velvet
EQ6/NEQ6 everytime if you have the fundsVelvet
laser_jock99
EQ6 if the weight of the mount (and any moving thereof) is not an issue. They can take enourmous loads - I have a 20Kg scope + matching counterweights on mine, no probs. I don't like moving it round so it sits in the garden under a BBQ cover. r3i
Agreed - the NEQ6 will give you plenty of headroom for load capacity should you wish to change/upgrade scopes and accessories in the future. You'd want to consider the HEQ5 over the NEQ6 if you felt lugging 35lbs of metal around would present a problem. kirkster501
They are markedly different in size - the NEQ6 is very much bigger and heavier and more cumbersome to handle- it amazed me when i first saw the NEQ6......
Rumpelstiltleg
Thanks to you all.The NEQ6 sounds the business to me. It will need moving to a dark skies area about 40mins away ( Mt Teide national park), But shouldn't be a problem. I count myself very lucky to have such a great viewing site nearby. I look forward to being able to use the new gear in Feb on my next visit. I will submit my humble early imaging attempts ASAP after that. This website is pure inspiration. Very excited about my newly rediscovered hobby. Thanks again.Regards MikeSent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
kirkster501
The NEQ6 most definitely is the business Mike. It is superb. Mine was faulty when delivered but getting a new one sorted as we speak. As long as you are able bodied you'll be fine. Be surprised when you first see (and hold) it though. They ain't small or light !
r3i
The NEQ6 most definitely is the business Mike. It is superb. Agreed - it is a very popular choice amongst members on this forum and with good reason. To get a mount that is significantly better, you're into the big bucks brigade (Mesu and beyond).
