Planetary/high power EP

Hi, looking for a 1.25" planetary to go in a 1035mm fl 4.3" and a 1600mm 12" scope. I already have an 8mm, which gives 129x and 200x respectively. However, I need more umph than that, maybe 250/260x for really good seeing conditions, so realisticly a 6 or 6.5mm planetary eyepiece.

Is it worth buying a BST/TMB, etc... or trying to find a Pentax 6.5 - 19.5 mm zoom? Or abandaning all hope of finding the later and getting a specialised eyepiece?

If anyone is selling a cheap 6mm ortho... ... ... (get the hint? lol).

yep. when I mask my 16" f4 dob I have used it to 600x occasionally on doubles. more often useful at the 6mm end like last time at 300x on Mars. the key thing is you just tune it in to the available seeing and can change in an instant. it's also great with travel scopes as it covers all the higher power ranges.

At 2000mm focal length in my C8, I generally use the 10, 8.5 and 7mm Pentax EPs, giving 205, 239, and 290x magnification. On rare occasions I can go a higher still. As your scopes are F/9.4 and F/5.25, if I am right, a 6mm should be OK, and even a 5 should be OK under good conditions. Have you considered getting a Delos 6mm? Just a bit more expensive than the XF zoom, it gives more power, better FOV, and most likely better image quality. A Radian 6 would be cheaper, but very good. If you do not mind horribly low eye relief, why not go for this:

I am not sure if they can make true on their promise of delivery in 1-2 weeks, but you could ask.

I don't know what your budget is but I find my 6mm Ethos a superb high power eyepiece. The ultra-wide, razor sharp field of view makes it a versatile eyepiece too - easier to keep objects in view. It shows enough sky to be great on planetary nebulae and you can get right in amongst the stars in globular clusters

I appreciate that it's a darned expensive option though. The Delos will provide the same quality in all but field of view for less £'s.
