i was planning to use my car as a power supply, but perhaps using portable battery is better/safer option. do you know if this one will do the job: http://www.maplin.co...pstarter-383992

As long as it has the outputs for your scope/mount then that will do you fine.

At that price might pick myself one up.

EDIT

Cant see a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket on it - which I believe is the standard for use out in the field.

just came back from Maplins and got my self jumpstarter I have asked about yesterday. it has got cigarette lighter socket, so it should do the job.

just one more question - shall I left it charging for recommended full 20 hrs, or disconnected it from charging when it will reach 13-14 volts? it came almost fully charged anyway, so I dont want to overcharge it.

Stick it on charge - it should cut out when fully charged - or maybe even allows a trickle charge to keep it topped up. Any instructions with it?

very basics instructions came with it. it doesn't mention if it does have cut of device when its fully charged. it just says to keep it charging for 20 hrs before first use and top it up after every use. anyway it is on charge now and I will disconnect it in the morning.
