Just a quick heads up on the big show of the year. I know its highly unlikely that it'll be a clear night considering how shockingly bad the summer has been so far, but you never know , stranger things have happened and it may just be clear.......The moon doesn't rise until about 1am and the peak falls on a saturday night so it may be quite good this year.

well - weather looks like it may be improving from Friday according to the Welsh news last night so this weekends observing session could be a good- fingers crossed for August- be nice to see the dark skies again.

From reading news etc. the weather is meant to be getting better in general, hopefully it brings clear skies with it. Some warm sunny days wouldn't go amiss before the autumn arrives though

Just been reading up on this in SaN magazine and it says the peak this year is actually during the daytime - between 13:00 and 15:30 BST on sunday 12th august .

So it looks like we'll miss the best bit but meteors will still hit either side of this time, i.e. the optimum times being after 01:00 BST on the nights of the 11/12th and 12/13th (after 01:00 because this is when the Earth will have turned on its axis enough to hit the meteors head on).
