Hi Gina ,

highly respect the imaging fraternity and will get into that one day , but for now visual is my first love , I can look up some incredible images on the net without equipment but seeing it under the open sky is just magical for me . I will gaze through the biggest scope I can make and then move on --my next project is a lightweight bino with 36 inch mirrors , so being kept entertained for a while it,s all amazing stuff . and every man to his own .

regards wide eyed Dan

I love it - much respect Dan :) It would be a dull world if we were all the same :D I love big bold stuff and doing something different from the usual :) And I quite understand your point of view of seeing the wonders of the universe live. But I agree that it needs the biggest optics possible to gather enough light and that is beyond my means and capabilities.

Hi Gina ,

many thanks for your comments , and hope your enjoying the hobby/sport . Have to admit -I jumped in the deep end a bit early with Hexy so it,s a bit all consuming at the mo, kind of an automated madness, reason is given in earlier post- but I was so enthralled and taken by surprise at the quality of what you can see with binocular telescopes with 16 inch aperatures, I didn,t stop to consider the word "NO" "man I just gotta have one of them " was now a permanent fixed desire --and all out of the blue--what really got to me was the comfort factor "WOW" I sat for hours and hours in the USA just soaking it all up ,I never ever had that experience with my 12 inch monoscope.

I guess the excitement will take a fair while to calm down now -I,m hoping it won,t -- ---------------to infinity-and beyond------ just Dan

Hi chris ,

hope yer enjoying the posts, well- looks like your a similar thinker to me, follow the logic eh ? I,ve planned to do just that when Hexy proves her worth , my idea incorporates a nice comfy swivel office chair on a mechanism that can be raised or lowered --- tilted both ways --and swivel 360--plans I drawn show a separate circular rail round the scope to avoid transferring vibes --the whole shebang will be transferred to a permanent trailer eventually -dark skies sites needed to do Hexy justice eh !

regards comfy Dan

Hi Dan, I'm lovin the binoscope pic showing the tubes in place and you next to it all showing the scale of the thing, what a maaouussive binoscope!!:D

I think I get the idea now, so each tube is piveted on one axis but at 90 degrees to each other, each motorised so you can collimate the tubes to each other from a NASA style control panel from a seated area, I'm grinning at the very idea of such a scope:D I apprecciate the offer to look through hexy at some point in the future although I will heed your warning as I think it will spoil me for life:D, I'll proceed with my bino aperture fever in smaller increments to be on the safe side:D

keep up the great work, its certainly the biggest astro project I've seen on this forum:)

You got it starfox but You aint seen nothing yet

what I plan to do ,

when all,s done I will shoot some video clips for ya , so you can see Hexy in motion , I,ve got a desire that far exceeds my speed right now , I started this hobby in 2010 so as you can see I evolve fast --very fast .

Can,t plan quick enough for the things I want my eyes to see , before they shut for good ,

a little while and hexy will stir into action ----keep a tab---------- forever scheming Dan

Hi to a retired photographer,

It might also benefit to have a police escort too ! Hexy has been called --a pair of cannons --twin Daleks--stolen scrapyard challenges--turbo boosters for jets --giant tombolas--stately home ornaments--and a fairground ride, THE GYRATOR-- love all the descriptions really but I only planned to swivel looking glass in them --didn,t realize they were so versatile --queues might be bigger than I anticipated.

Might have to buy a ticket machine

If you ever get the chance to oggle through one of these binos be prepared for a change of life ---and don,t say I didn,t warn ya.

changed Dan

It just seems to have come to a sudden stop. Is anybody in contact with Dan who can perhaps shed some light (no pun intended) on the outcome?
