How control exposure on canon 1100d

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

today I got a Canon 1100d for my birthday, and have been wondering how to take long exposure photos, up to 30 seconds.

I have the camera set on the 'TV' on the mode dial, but for some reason can only have exposures of up to 1/2 second or whatever. Does anyone know how to configure the settings to take long exposures up to 30 seconds? I am completely stumped!

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

To get the camera to shoot 30 second exposures you will need to set the camera to manual (M) mode. For exposures greater than 30 seconds set the camera to M and the set the shutter speed to bulb. If you use a cable release you can keep the shutter open for as long as you want.
