Hi everyone.

I live in Borth (Between Aber and Mach).

I have been doing wide field astrophotography for a few years but now looking to get into more DSO photography and hoping to get something setup over the next few months.
I would love to be able to meet up with like minded others not only for a good night session but to also maybe pick your brains on setup etc...

Pendam and Nant-y-moch are both decent sites which I have used a number of times and always on the hunt for others.
I actually live in Ynyslas which is also pretty dark (not as much as the above) but can yield some good results depending in which direction you are facing.

Hi Mark,

Nant-y-Moch is a good dark place, plenty of places to pull in along that road. Ynyslas (nice place) is probably not that bad either (never been there at night though- although I might be tempted to night fish the beach at some point!). I keep my fishing boat down at the Ynyslas Boat Yard- which reminds me I had better go and fetch it soon as I'm unlikely to use it again till Spring.....

Nant-y-Moch is one of main "Go-To" places for wide field astro at present.

If you have not tried it then pendam at the back of Penrhyn-coch is also pretty good.

Ynyslas by the welcome centre is not bad as a quick and easy goto but not as dark as the other two places.

Hi folks,

I've been associated with Mid-Wales since I was a student at Aberystwyth and have been part of various astronomy clubs during my wandering in England over the last five years. I've just moved to West Wales permanently to settle with my better half. We're currently based in Aberaeron but will be moving to Llanilar just outside Aberystwyth in the next few weeks. I'd love to meet up with some like minded astronomy types. I'm very much a beginner (still saving for a scope at present) but am stargazing with binos for the time being. Long term I'd love to get into astrophotography. If anyone's up for doing some regular stargazing meetups in the area, give me a shout. All the best folks!
