Decided to fill the gap

I think I have a gap in my eyepiece range, I need something inbetween a 12mm Televue and a 30mm.

Scope is 12" Meade sct.

Budget £150 ish but less is better

Any suggestions

What about a 2nd hand 19mm (5/4") or 22mm (2") Panoptic?

Hyperion 24mm reckoned to be quite good.

Mmm. I'd reckon that gives 100x & 250x respectively.

I'd look out for eyepieces around 150x(20mm) & 200x(15mm). Or one eyepiece at 175x(roughly 17mm)

£150 could get you a 82afov UWA. Various manufacturers have the UWA'S at around that price.

OR

You could get 2 high quality plossl's for £150.

OR

one quality eyepiece at or around 17mm.

Choice is endless. All depends on the afov prefered and what sort of eye relief you're happy with.

I would consider both the 18 and 25mm Celestron X-Cel LX and still have change from your £150. These are reported to be almost as good as the Televue Radian.

I have the 24mm, its 2" with adapter to 1.25"

They are - you don't need the 2" format to deliver a 68 degree AFoV with a 24mm focal length eyepiece.

The Hyperions have a 2" barrel section as a convenience for those that prefer to insert them into a 2" drawtube.
