Skywatcher evostar 90 refractor

I have just bought one of the above and tried it out last night for the first time. Conditions were not that good very windy. So Jupiter danced around quite abit. I have a Tal reflector too and that has a very heavy mount so I was able to get a fairly good image. But through the SM is was fuzzy couldnt really make out any bands. Am I asking too much from this scope?

I am going to wait for steadier and warmer weather to look again. The Plaides looked good and terestial views look ok. Any imput would be a help.

I'd think it was the conditions to be honest. I've seen the two main bands with my ST80 at 80x, and I think the Evostar is probably better suited to Planetary than the little ST80.

Yep had another look tonight and boy is it cold and still very windy, but images were better. My Tal1 still had a crisper image. Must wait for warmer less windy conditions

i have a 90mm frac and its mint ds2090 on a goto mount,must have been conditions as mine performs brill great for astro pics

My celestron astromaster 90 (basically the same scope) does ok, i imagine it was the conditions. I've had nights where i just couldn't get on with it, and other nights that have blown my mind.

Finally got a good look at Jupiter tonight with my Skywatcher, no wind, bjt cloudy but through the gaps it looked superb. Pleased with scope, roll on clear nights

Planetary observing often tests patience more than optics.

Nights of good steady seeing are rare.

agree with the comments given already, conditions are integral to what you may be able to observe, if you are willing to spend some time at the eyepiece on decent nights the views presented can be outstanding
