Which Deep Cycle battery?

I am looking to buy a Marine Deep Cycle battery for powering my EQ6 and Dew heaters?

Which brands have you tried and recommend?

I have the Numax 85ah batteries for my NEQ6. Runs my mount and various other bits for a good three nights or more without dropping. Think they are all much of a muchness really and can be had on the bay for around £80 delivered.

I got this PLATINUM 685L LEISURE BATTERY

it may be worth checking if you have a local supplier too as it could save you the cost of delivery.

I've connected a couple of fused 12v socket adapters from an Ebay seller called Towzatronics.

For charging I have the Aldi charger people on the forum recommended.

The Numax is the best - This is the same battery just re-branded - with a 2 year guarantee.

I've used two Numax deep cycle batteries in the past, one for starting and running a Landrover Discovery and the other for running the winch, inverter, offroad lighting and fridge in the back.

Very good batteries for the price and I got mine from Tayna Batteries who do a good delivery service.

Thanks guys for the specifics on brands and suppliers. I've decided to go for the Numax.

One more question - the deep cycle chargers seem to be more expensive than the batteries topping 100 quid. Are these essential or shall I go for a cheaper charger ~25 quid?

Go for the charger/conditioner - the expensive one, of course! Seriously - you can keep the thing plugged in all the time (when not in use) and it charges the battery and then continues to trickle charge over time. The battery is always ready to use and in perfect condition. My Numax has been used for 2 years now and I cannot see any degradation at all - it still runs all my kit for over 6 hours with no problems (and I run the mount/lappy/dew heater from the same battery).

One thing that has not been discussed, is the weight of the things.

How do you move them about?

Some have a handle (numax do) but I put mine in a marine box that has a strap for carrying.
