AR1339 - Gigantic Sunspot on the Limb

Hi all,

Here is the image we took this morning, before I went to work of the massive sunspot just coming onto the limb. I want to add that I did have some chance to play around with some colored filters on this one and found that the best detail was to be had with an SBIG - G band fliter. This is with the 80mm f/6 Zeiss, and 5x barlow. Hope you can get out this weekend and see this monster sunspot!

I think this one will be really good in white light, this might be a good time to clean up that aperture front filter!

Picture looks very good. I would love to get outside and view this monster but all I have in Wiltshire at the moment is the wet stuff and lots of it:mad:

I wonder if it'll delivery any atmospheric excitement for radio and aurora observers. I don't think it's pointing our way yet, is it?

If this thing can hold together for a week, it will be blasting our way when it flares. But then it will be full moon!
