Cygnus Widefield

Recommended Posts

Cygnus Wide-field

Taken with a QHY8 and a Canon18-55 kit lens at 55 (gives about 20deg FoV- I think)

6 x 5min images, guided with Phd on a EQ6 pro

Captured and processed in Nebulosity/PS

I'm not that happy with the colour but have given up meddling with it (for now)

I've got another 6 sets of images of different parts of the milky-way all taken with the same set-up, if they all join up I will make a mosaic...... If they don't join up then I will try harder next year....

Processed 3 of the images so far and they have joined up (sort of). The Tiff is getting a bit large (170M) so this is a very much shrunk JPG. Just got to do the other 3 images now...

Looking good. What software have you used to stitch them together?

I’m using Registar to stitch them together – Registar only really does one thing, but does it very well.

OK I’ve added a few more images – it now runs from Perseus (left) to Albireo (right). I did take images all the way down passed Altair but they had really bad gradients which were impossible to fix so they've not been included.

The Tiff is now 300MB...

I have also included a crop of the interesting bit in Cygnus.

I think I will continue this project next year..
