First shot of Mars this year very small of course but got some detail. Conditions very mushy Jupiter shots are poor.

Auto Dob 250 with DFK f30 then 200% resize.

That’s a great image Stuart some very nice detail showing just out of interest what sort of settings are needed for mars gain/shutter speed etc

Cheers Kevin. I'd just been shooting Jupiter so used similar settings, 30fps 1/61 shutter just over 10% gamma and about 70-80% gain. Took 4000 frames and just the one avi as conditions were so bad...strong breeze meant Mars was buzzing around like an angry wasp and seeing was fuzzy. Should have been in colour but I'd left the preview colour setting on so its captured in b&w.

Used a 5x powermate.

That looks to be one of if not the most detailed images of Mars this season. Good capture of a tiny and difficult target.

Thanks again fellas! Will be interesting to see what I can get under better conditions I am surprised how well it has come out considering how poor my Jupiter images look.
