Jup GRS 11.9.11 C11/SPC

Finally managed to get 4 half decent captures early Sunday morning,

very similar conditions as last effort 6-7/10 seeing, but more windy :)

only 2nd time imaging with C11 and 1st time got GRS in C11.

i was watching clouds all night and eventually got 20-30mins clear sky just as GRS was showing up.

Was planning on getting star test avi aswell but clouds made it impossible,

also had Mars on screen ready to capture but more clouds spoiled fun, could clearly see polar cap but not easy to focus or see any small detail.

Got few Jup avi's with x3 Tal aswell but having stacked them they're very dissapointing,

the difference between f/25 and f/30 was more than i expected so prob seeing wasn't up to higher focal length,

ended up with 2 @f/25 and 2 with slight extention so around f/27.

1st is 150sec @10fps stacked 1000/1500 @f/25 4.26am (3.26UT)

2nd is 100sec @20fps stacked 1100/2000 @f/25 4.30am

decided to try 20fps with SPC, as seen some decent results from a Flickr and CN friend who's using C8 and SPC (Zambini),

cant really notice much difference on stacked result, but capturing 20fps def gave more steady image viewing.

3rd and 4th pic is 1st pic (4.26am)

and last 5th pic is 2nd (4.30am) False RG version just 2 channels (removed blue in channel mixing)

will post up f/27 ones later on

and will be redoing them all aswell, no doubt :)

pics are 100% capture size

Steadily improving James, i think i prefer the 20 fps shots as there is more detail, slighly noiser but showing more. When you can get your new camera. things will improve even more. conditions havent been great the last few days. im hoping there will much better to come in the coming weeks, i belive there will. but the uk weather hates us at the moment

I bet that C11 is the biz James, what camera are you getting?

thanks C11 is a great telescope to own, just not getting much use at min

still deciding on new cam ideally i would like both mono and colour new 618 chipped IS cameras

but will be happy with either :)

thats if they come back in stock as think Flo sold out at min

either Dmk 618 mono with filter wheel and filters

more hassle capturing and more processing, more expensive, more weight

but better sensitivity

or Dfk 618 colour

less expensive easier captures and processing

cant use specialised filters which give better results in average seeing

decisions, decisions :)

your stsrting to show it was the right decision for you to go larger. More fun to come. The new cam will amaze James, 60 fps no compression is like lightening. If you want one be sure to go on FLOs waiting list, some time prior to you having the dosh. Situation might improve by then, but just incase
