One idea of the scale (of the Sun, at least) is this: if you place the Earth in the middle of the sun, the Moon would only be halfway to the surface of the sun.

I thought it was kinda cool. The enormity of our Solar System is staggering and then to think that we are barely a speck in our own galaxy, and the our galaxy is only a speck in the universe.

Are those dwarf planets really there in our outer system; or are they just theory based on some postulation?

This suggests to me that the Oort Cloud isn't really part of the solar system at all - it seems more like a part of the original nebula the solar system was made from?

Any thoughts?

Thats a great "map" really brings out how markedly the solar system "thins out" after Jupiter/ Saturn.
