EQ1 Power supply

Hello

I just bought a used EQ1 (motorized RA axis) mount and was wondering if there is an adaptor available so I can plug it into a wall socket instead of using the battery pack?

Yes there are adaptors for power supply cables. I bought one to fit it to a wall socket but I understand the ones used in UK are different to the one I use and this is the one I have http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b6/Netzteil_unbekannten_Typs_01.JPG Just make sure that the one you buy has the right voltage. I bought 220V (from socket) ---> 12V (to controller) and it had a tip-positive connection.

I could be wrong, but from memory I recall the motor being 6V. How many batteries does the battery pack hold?

The EQ1 RA drive First Light Optics - RA Economy Motor Drive for EQ1 uses a 9v PP3 battery.

It holds 4 D batts (4 X 1.5 volts = 6 volts)

I have two of these motors...

They both hold the square 6v batteries, but one holds one of them and the other holds two!

The simple motor has the square battery inside the casing. The better motor has an external battery pack which holds a number of C (or D?) size batteries
