Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.

Doesn't look as if anyone's answered your question about the Explorer 150PL. I can't speak from experience, but it is a popular choice. I believe there's a couple of model options with the Explorer. I think the "PL" refers to a parabolic-shaped mirror and a slightly longer focal length making it better for planetary & lunar viewing, with the shorter version better for astrophotography. At the limit of my knowledge now, so will leave for others far better informed than I to comment on this. If you don't get any luck, you can always contact FLO (First Light optics - link at top of the SL site) who always seem to be very knowledgeable and helpful.
