  1. good effort! you can clearly make out Andromeda. With a bit more processing, the stars would be clearer. Although sating that I quite like the brightness in the first image as it is.
  2. Night Sky (On iOS) has a very intuitive interface, augmented reality and approachable (especially for kids). In terms of general stargazing it seems head and shoulders above Sky Safari, and therefore worth a mention here.
  3. I'll check that out, thanks. As I'm just starting out, with imaging, tweaking, processing to learn, I will get many miles out of something cost effective. I posted some images recently with an 800mm f11 camera lens, which is diffractor based. I've improved on those straight away so a cheaper optics won't be holding me back
  4. I might end up getting one of these. Very nice.
  5. Deep rabbit holes are chock-full of cash I've heard. Often my own!
  6. For me there are two different considerations, both of which are valid: -The image is a snapshot in time, and -What is the image trying to convey to the viewer? The first one demands accuracy to represent what happened. the second is more of a feeling, emotional response in the viewer. How did it feel to be there on that evening? That is where editing, tweaking, photoshopping out some elements can be useful. It's when someone strays too far from either does an image get totally overblown and not believable, or not representative. I've seen a few.
  7. Sky is fake. stars - fake. It's all fake. Do you're own reserch etc etc. 🤣
  8. Agh. I missed Sky Safari 7, not sure why that didn't come up win my app search. Hopefully should be able to refund/switch.....
  9. The only way I can capture both is to do a double exposure, one for moons and one for the planet. It's effectively a HDR capture I guess. (Noob here also, relatively speaking)
  10. Really like these, bravo! Yes, weather was better than forecast yesterday, was pleasantly surprised
  11. It seems they've rejigged the prices again... catch them with the cheap basic app.. Sky Safari (£2.49) Sky Safari 6 Plus (£12.99) Sky Safari 6 Pro (£34.99)
  12. Hi - looking forward to seeing some images!
  13. Another alternative - a balcony window. As long as the upper window opens high enough
