  1. Your lat/longitude is fine, mine for instance is 51 44’N 1. 13’W. Whilst in BST (summer time) I believe that it’s Yes for daylight saving. If not I hope someone will rectify it.
  2. You don’t need to do any alignment procedure before you can slew the telescope. All you need to do is enter the lat/longitude, elevation and time etc. You need to select YES for daylight saving. Once done it will ask to begin alignment, Yes/No . If you select No, you can slew the telescope and track targets should you want to. Your settings for lat/longitude seem fine.
  3. You have to check that any power supply has the correct polarity ie: centre pin positive. This should be marked on each power supply. Where did you plug it in? The mount or the handset?
  4. Hi @badhex mine was all good as well 👍
  5. This small order was delivered by the “Postie”. Just a Baader Planetarium optical wonder cleaning kit and another desiccant cap. I was fed up with swapping a solitary desiccant cap between my scopes.
  6. Hi Lucas 👋 welcome to the lounge
  7. Hi 👋, a warm welcome to the lounge.
  8. It’s for the 8” Dobsonian. I think the outside diameter of the scope itself is 9.5”
  9. Couple of much needed dew shields for my Dobsonian and Maksutov
  10. Getting to a dark site and realizing that you’ve forgotten something 😱
  11. Looks identical to the Stella Lyra eyepieces that FLO sell

    Newbie!

Hi 👋 Welcome to the lounge
  13. My next new Morpheus delivered today along with a dielectric diagonal and a Morpheus/Hyperion carrying case, as i intend to acquire the full range.
  14. I’m another one in the 8” Dobsonian camp. You will learn the night sky much quicker by star hopping around the constellations and asterisms. As has been already said the go to mount definitely isn’t a power and view arrangement. It takes a bit of work to get up and running. When I got my Dobsonian I was really impressed with the views it was giving and before too long I could duck and dive around the night sky. I wish you luck in whichever direction you go.
  15. A new RACI to partner the telrad on my Maksutov and a 14mm Morpheus with a 12.5mm coming later this week
  16. Both of my Synscan hand controllers, one of which is only weeks old suffer from this to a degree. I found that when it happened ,it simply needed pressing again with a bit more force. The controller that is 7 months old hardly ever does it anymore. This leads me to the conclusion that it’s simply a mechanical issue and not an electrical or electronic one. I simply worked around it, but in the end it depends on how bad the issue is on yours.
  17. I just check that the star is visible to me before I select it. If it’s not then look at another. No need to start over.
  18. My 127 came with the 45mm visual back. Just unscrew the rear adapter exposing the male threads, and measure across the outside diameter. If it’s 45mm then you need the adapter below
  19. The thread on the EQ5 and AZ4 are both M10. I am unsure about the EQ3-2. My AZ4 tripod has an azimuth alignment
  20. Good choice Paul 👍 When I use mine I don’t extend the tripod legs and use a chair or stool for comfort and ease of use. It’s also far more steady this way. It’s completely your choice of course. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I have with mine.
  21. My 127 Maksutov on AZ synscan go to mount for speed of set up and easy alignment. For wider fields it’s my 120/1000 Evostar on an EQ5 pro go to mount or my 8” Stella Lyra Dobsonian. For nights when the clouds are dubious I whip out my Pentax 20x60 binoculars on a pistol grip tripod.🪐 🔭👀
  22. Hi, I have two pairs of binoculars for astronomy. The first one being a pair of Opticron 15x70 and the second ones being Pentax 20x60. I have them on a pistol grip tripod and mount. They are both good for DSO’s but the Pentax stand head and shoulders above the Opticron for clarity and contrast. Good luck with your search
  23. I have an Evostar 120/1000 on an EQ5 pro go to mount and used in conjunction with the Baader semi apo filter the CA is reduced considerably. The planets are easily within reach at this focal length and even more so if a 2 or 3X Barlow is used in the imaging train.
  24. Hi Chris 👋, welcome back to the lounge 🔭👀
