  1. I’ve had it in preview mode most of the night
  2. 55mm from my reducer/flattener to the camera sensor. Reducer/flattener - 15.5mm spacer- 17mm filter drawer- 5mm spacer to ASI585 MC = 55mm
  3. 55mm from my reducer/flattener to the camera sensor. Reducer/flattener - 15.5mm spacer- 17mm filter drawer- 5mm spacer to ASI585 MC = 55mm
  4. Thanks for advice. I was just pointing at the dark sky. My fingers are like bananas now going to pop inside for a bit and let them heat up a bit. Total brain freeze. I didn’t even think of the moon or Jupiter despite them being in my face! I’ll try this next. Thanks Ian
  5. I have been out in the freezing cold for hours trying to get my main camera focused. I am using an asiair plus and a ASI585 MC camera. Everything is connected and settings etc but when I try to focus the main camera all i get is a gray screen like a bayer matrix I have racked the focuser to each extreme and tried changing the gain on the main camera. Still nothing. I set it on 2 second exposures and looped them while focusing, or trying to. This first try at EEVA has been a disaster. Any help folks? Thanks 🙏🏻
  6. How long did it take from ordering to delivery? Thanks (Xmas present)
  7. Happy belated birthday Nigella ✨🎂🔭
  8. DHL dropped off more bits and pieces for my venture into EEVA and AP. A 0.8x reducer flattener, a 15.5mm T2 spacer, a 5mm T2 spacer, a T2 2” magnetic filter drawer with another 1.25” slider. All put together to give me the correct 55mm spacing to my camera sensor.
  9. I moved my EQ5 pro all through its range of motions and I had no instances where the components collided with the cable plugs. Maybe I just can’t find the combination of RA and DEC to get this to occur. Did you buy it as an EQ5 pro or did you upgrade it with a synscan upgrade kit?
  10. My eyesight is actually sharp. I only need to use reading glasses, otherwise it’s all good through the eyepiece.
  11. Didn’t see your post, I’m even getting clouds in my vision 😂
  12. Not the case in the UK Louis. The Pentax are £50 more expensive per eyepiece.
  13. When I checked CO on Monday it was solid red all week apart from Sunday, which was solid green all night! Alas on rechecking just now (Saturday morning) it’s regrettably vanished, only to be replaced by a solid red bar😭
  14. I’m going to rock the boat and recommend getting the Nirvanas. They are very well received eyepieces with 22 degrees more FOV than the Starguiders. I generally recommend the Starguiders, however with you stating that you want them for life, I’m inclined to opt for something better. If you don’t mind spending a bit more then the Baader Morpheus eyepieces are better still. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  15. Postman delivered the other two volumes of Burnhams Celestial Handbook.
  16. A new Vixen flip mirror for my venture into EEVA and volume three of Burnham’s celestial handbook.
  17. Hi 👋 George, I’m not too far away from you in Oxford.
  18. Junk is a rather strong adjective to use. The mount as is can be roughly polar aligned to allow you to track your targets in the eyepiece by using the slow motion cables. It would also benefit from adding some additional weight to the tripod. You could place the weight(s) on the eyepiece tray or fit a hook on the underside of the tripod and hang the weight(s). If you decide after a while that you want to upgrade your equipment then the mount should be one of the first things to upgrade. Good luck Ian
  19. The 2.6x can only be fitted in the one orientation and also the lenses should never be opened. The 1.7x lenses are cemented into a doublet and easy to reverse.
  20. Yes it’s going to affect the image. To switch the lens assembly around you need to take the 1.7x GPC and unscrew the little lens locking ring that holds the actual lenses in place. Tip the GPC upside down onto a clean microfiber cloth letting the lenses drop out. Replace the lenses in the opposite way and replace the locking ring. The convex lens always points to the telescope/sky PS it’s 2.6x and not 2.7x👍
