  1. No I was directing it to @Marian M. If you use the Zeiss microbayonet and quick changer then you need to fit the 1.7x GPC in the binoviewer itself, and reverse the lenses. If I had the choice again I would just use it the way you are. I never could work out what magnification I was getting.
  2. Also depending on how you mount the 1.7x GPC ie which direction the flat on it is orientated you may need to unscrew the GPC and reverse the cemented lens double.
  3. Where are you fitting the GPC’s? The clicklock is adding unnecessary length to the light path. You can either attach the MB to the T2 diagonal directly, or by a Baader quick changer utilizing the Zeiss microbayonet.
  4. I know that Sky Safari is compatible with the asiair plus but was wondering whether it can be also be used with Stellarium. Thanks
  5. Welcome 👋to the lounge. I have the identical f7 frac as yourself, only mine is called a Starfield. I have fallen under its spell and I now know why they say “Everyone needs a 4” frac “
  6. Did you buy it from Rother valley optics?, as I have received several orders from them that was split into two deliveries.
  7. Another DPD delivery today from FLO. This time it was a ZWO 30F4 guide scope and a ASI120MM mini guide camera, a ZWO UV/IR cut filter, a 210mm dovetail bar, a M42 to 1.25” filter holder, a AE finder shoe, and finally a AE Vixen style dovetail clamp. I went to put it all together and realized I had no fixing screws for the dovetail.
  8. A 14mm eyepiece in a 1800mm focal length telescope is only 128x
  9. You need more magnification on Mars to get the best from it.
  10. I can second that the 4mm is a sharp eyepiece. You will just have to wait until the seeing conditions improve.
  11. I have just placed an order with David Lukehurst for him to make me an equatorial platform for my dobsonian. He said he was very busy with back orders for telescopes and it would be February before he could ship it to me. Looking forward to it so that I can attach my camera and do a bit of EEVA with my dobsonian as well as my other tracked scopes.
  12. Are the screws tightened at the top of the tripod ie: the hinges?
  13. So do you have the laser on both of your dobsonians now?
  14. Since the strikes began i only use DPD now. It’s more expensive but I’ll bite the bullet until the strikes are over.
  15. DPD with deliveries today. This time it was a Baader clicklock M63 for my Starfield to replace the existing Axil lock. I also bought some USB 2&3 cables for my Asiair.
  16. I have stashed this away for future reference. Thanks
  17. The Baader Morpheus eyepieces are far superior to the Hyperion eyepieces. Good eye relief +/-20mm. 76 degrees FOV with a clear image edge to edge.
  18. Either the screwdriver or put a plastic bag over it when it’s not in use to prevent the dew ingress.

    Hey people

That was a great introduction Ilya. You have started off very well but then tried racing up that astrophotography hill. To photograph the Andromeda Galaxy you would at the least need a tripod for your camera to keep it motionless. I could go into depth concerning this but I deem it a pointless exercise for a complete beginner. Going along to an Astro club is a great decision and let’s you look at and through different telescopes (weather permitting of course). The binoculars you have are marine binoculars which are not the best for astronomy although they have obviously done enough to keep your enthusiasm bubbling. Good luck on your new journey.🌙🔭
  20. I have a pair of Tasco (Japan) 8x40’s which are optically great and are fantastic for sweeping the sky. Before these I had pairs of Pentax WP S 20x60’s and Opticron Oregon 15x70, both of which required to be mounted. It’s good to have sharp lightweight binoculars that doesn’t tire your arms. Looking at the ones you have selected I would choose the Pentax.
  21. The pick and pluck eyepiece case is generally the way to go unless you have a case designed for a particular range of eyepieces like one of mine is for my complete Baader Morpheus collection. The pick and pluck case allows you to arrange them the way you want. Regarding the horizontal or vertical question, it’s entirely what you prefer. The vertical will allow more eyepieces per case. I have both vertical and horizontal. Finding a particular eyepiece can be tricky with a vertical unless you mark the top dust caps .
  22. This is the best RDF out there imho. I love mine.
  23. Another DPD delivery today. This time it’s an ASIAIR PLUS and a ZWO ASI585 MC. I need to try this EEVA for myself. I still need to get a few cables and a vixen dovetail and clamp.
  24. Hi Ron👋, welcome to SGL.
  25. Talking to yourself can be a sign of underlying problems 😂
