  1. First small project with this lens. A classic Heart & Soul. Around 4h of valid data through 3 nights. 180s SHO lights plus 30s subs for RGB stars. Taken at f/2.8 with an ASI294MM and ZWO filters. First time using NINA, so wasted precious time getting grips. Processed in PI. Also first time processing an undersampled image, and I found it a bit tricky. Perhaps more data will help, though I’ll keep on trying. Thanks for watching.
  2. As mentioned by ONIKKINEN, your budget is important: from a DSLR (couple of hundreds if not already own one) to several thousands for a state-of-the-art mono cam with nice filters.
  3. What branch of AP, lunar/planetary or deep sky? Different equipment and techniques. ASI120 is commonly used for guiding. Perhaps it’s valid for planetary. Don’t know. For DSO, starting with a DSLR is the way to go.

    Hi

    Hi and welcome to SGL
  6. Hi and welcome to SGL. Astronomy confusing for a beginner? I don’t know what you’re talking about. 🤯 Just try asking.
  7. With your budget, why not both planetary and DSO? EQ6-R Pro + refractor (don't forget the field flattener) + cheapo maksutov ($500-ish) + planetary cam (used as guide cam when DSO imaging) + DSLR + filter. Later on, you can add an astro-dedicated camera (perhaps a mono one with a filter set). Just my 2-cents.

  10. I is called "primary locking shaft", though I haven´t found a replacement. However, there´s a workaround proposed in this post:

    Hello there!

    Hi and welcome to SGL.
  12. It looks good to my unexperienced eyes. The overall colour balance might be tweaked if you like (I would leave it as it is) but I don´t see any aberration. Congrats!

    Hello

    Hi and welcome to SGL
  14. Outstanding! I really love the depth. I wish I could add 20h someday.
  15. If not reflections of a very bright star, cables/ropes in the line of sight?
