Hi, I'm pretty happy regarding what causes liberation of the the Moon, I think this is due to the Moons elliptical orbit and differences of distance from the Earth and different orbital speeds but constant rotational speed allowing more or less of the surface to be turned towards us? And why the moon appears to nod due to its inclined orbit relative to the Earth allowing us to view above and below it? However the motion that still confuses is the rocking side to side. I think it’s got something to do with the Earths 23.5 degree tilt. Any simple explanation or link to a resource will be gratefully received. (Please also feel free to put me right on my other assumptions 😁) Thanks.

Absolute Beginner With Confusing “Stuff”.
Andy ES replied to Mikel56's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Mike That's great if its not been used it should all be OK as long as its not been bounced. Mine survived delivery OK and has been fine for over two years. CAT telescopes are susceptible to dewing up on the lens which then really then ends the viewing for the night. I use a heated dew shield which helps -

Mike, This is a very fine scope, I have the CPC version which has given me great views, (and using it also doubles as my weight training exercise 😂) but as already stated it has to be properly collimated and needs to be checked. It may well be ok already. cheers and enjoy the hobby, looks like you got a bargain. You will get all the advice you need here 😁 -
Nice cool moon and Venus in the garden while tending my crops ( tomatoes). Also big thing we will see tomorrow night!

Hi I’ve done a bit of reading up on eye piece reviews but still would like some advice and hear any experience anyone’s got of the two lower power Eye Pieces below and which one would best suit my kit. Explore Scientific 82 degree 30mm Or Celestron Luminos 82 degree 31mm For use with: Celestron CPC 925 F10 SCT. (Data sheet attached) Thanks for any advice, or a view on which one would you get? Cheers Andy

What does nothing look like?
Andy ES replied to VirgoCluster25's topic in Physics, Space Science and Theories
The question was: What does nothing look like? Answer: This question cannot be asked as a “nothing” cannot be looked at. Its like asking “what is North of the North Pole?” Just my view 🤔 -
Thanks for the info 👍

Sorry to be so crass, but just wondering how much this project would cost, apologies if this is private of course.

Hi, Can anyone please advise what the two white concentric circles are on my sky safari view attached? They seem to have just appeared and not sure what they are or why they are there. I’ve gone through all the settings lots of times but don’t know what they are, thanks for any help received. Thanks.

I cannot argue with you, but it should come with a wallet health warning too... They say think about it for 30 days and then see if you still want it. Also don’t make a FLO wish list 😁

I remember always saying to my contractors that I wanted them, “To make a reasonable profit” The good news was that I always controlled how reasonable it was😁

Another law says: A beautiful clear night guarantees that the series on TV I am required to watch with Mrs will be on. ”An offer I can’t refuse”😁 Having said that I will always put my family’s wants and needs before Astronomy. (Most of the time)👍

'Fine tuning' the universe...
Andy ES replied to ollypenrice's topic in Physics, Space Science and Theories
I think this is similar to when I think about the chances of the exact version of me being born that exists now. The thousands of people who had to meet in the first place, not to mention the right sperm meeting the right egg. I must be a billions and billions : 1 chance. But still I exist as I do, probably this is accepted as No one had any expectations of me being as I am, just like the smashed vase.😁 -

Poll: GOTO / Push To or Find it yourself ?
Andy ES replied to John's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
I Use CPC Sky Align all night every night. Its quick and easy to set up. The accuracy has always been superb and gives quicker access to more targets. I do how however review the stars used in the set up process, once the computer has told me what they are, so I’m getting more familiar with the sky. Tracking is also great, especially if you want to show the same object to a few people. I do sometimes just push the scope around manually, normally for lunar observation. Also As a devout GOTO user I don’t mind “Real Astronomers” looking down their noses At me! 😂 -
I’ve had a few non Astronomically or Scientifically minded people look through my telescope and I’ve concluded that a nice Saturn, Jupiter with moons or a close up of the Moon will always get a WoW! response. 😁
