  1. So Patrick Moore was to blame for the demise of Woolworths, interesting. Welcome to the forum
  2. https://uk.telescope.com/home.jsp?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgJv4BRCrARIsAB17JI4HBmQ2UqmRvAaaDzyCEjKgVP_r1AJBiErn22HIhOZ3oWqaLd3lMX4aAqEIEALw_wcB I have a feeling some of it they ship from the netherlands (don't ask me why). Even on cheap eyepeices theres £0 shipping costs which would make more sense being shipped from the EU than the US. If you look, theres a live chat option, probably a good idea to go and ask them direct about delivery and returns. Put a dummy order through and see if it provides any additional info regarding shipping.
  3. Seriously though, when you say better, you have to be more specific, better at what? You have a 10mm which is a very nice eyepeice, look through it tonight. Think what would you like to do better than this partiular eyepeice on a particular target? A bigger field of view, a higher magnification, a combination of both or the total opposite. People will keep suggesting eyepeices in any price range you care to add, but ultimatly many are relying on your guidance as to what you are looking for. Eye peice viewing is a fairly personal thing. You are potentially looking at peices of art of different shapes and sizes, how would you like each picture framed, is up to you its entirely subjective. People can only guide you on their experience, not yours. I did suggest to you (If I remember right), buy a zoom, it can just be a moderatly cheapish one , this will allow you to experience a number of magnifications and set you down the right road for further purchaes, it might also become an essential part of the kit as it serves its own purposes as many will attest to. Its all very daunting this stuff especially at TV prices so its best to think of it logically as to what can be deemed a safe buy. Good luck with it, you got the scope. Dive in the waters not too bad.
  4. I think with the filters its worth a punt. Its not so expensive. However theres a part of me that wonders maybe I shoud tie my UHC to my finder scope with a rubber band at this point
  5. I'm sure if Gary can put up with this, he is a perfect candidate for staring day in day out at the 24/7 cotton wool floating past.
  6. Stop moving the goal posts Personally id still go with my suggestion based on your budget
  7. 100 degrees looks fun, and the bigger the better right. Then why isnt everyone going for a bigger the better we wonder? Now the next time you go to a cinema get a seat in the front row, and see if its as an enjoyable experience as it is if you were sitting about 2/3rd of the way up. Come to think of it why are the cinema premum seats 2/3rd of the way up and not on the front row? 68 to 82 is generally considered the most comfortable maxiumum wider viewing and "pretty" framing. 82 is about the level that many consider the spacewalk experiece, even that is too much for some. 100 is fun (as i'm guessing 120 is even more fun) but not long eye straining, migrane induced sessions and if the eyepeice over time doesnt give you a headache, its price tag certainky will
  8. As John eluded to earlier, and I'm guessing looking at your ep's you are using a 1.25 diagonal and don't own a 2", therefore the widest you can go is somewhat limited. And 32 is probaby the widest you can get which isnt bad. Try not to think about it as what you want, more about the best your particular scope/s and kit can handle (Diagonal size magnification, focal length). Some are more specialised and less forgiving than others. Realistcally the wider field is what I would go for intially, simply as it would make an easier finder to help you locate what you're looking for. Celestron Omni plossi 32mm for £39 possibly, then put my pennies together and get a Hyperflex 9-27 zoom £85. Bear in mind theres also P+P charges. These will give you nice views of almost everything and get most bases covered. The secondhand market (the bay ect) is not a bad place to look also. Please also note, with your starter ep's against the top end stuff, don't expect huge visual quality differences (trying to be realistic)
  9. Try these as a guide https://www.stelvision.com/en/telescope-simulator/ http://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/
  10. I know stellarium ect are cool apps, but this one I always find convienent as it helps plan down to the hour on various targets, stops me wasting time https://telescopius.com/
  11. The eqmod won't work on an alt az mount. I have the serial cabe to USB, so I can plug the handset straight into my pc/tablet ect. I just am after a wifi version so I can sit in my armchair and pretend i'm outside like a pro.
  12. Straight off the bay though, all the way from sunny China, don't waste your money on these kinds of accessories with a particular brand name on them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Red-Light-LED-Flashlight-3Modes-Red-Torch-Lamp-Astronomy-Night-Vision-Camping/293348750855?var=592198841127&hash=item444cf2b607:g:SyoAAOSwJcNd3LY6
  13. Try and work to the principle of how much stargazing you want to do, even on semi cloudy nights you could may get an hour or two in. Try and treat setting up your scope like a forumla 1 pitstop. Streamline as much as possible, do a dummy run in daylight when you have time to think about what you are doing so you're not picking through this and that in the dark. Work out what needs to come outside and what doesnt (be realistic) and organise for different scenarious, get a waterproof cover. None of these will drive the clouds away, but they will stop the whole "wasting my time" feeling that emerges when the weather in the Uk does what its famous for.
  14. Clear outside is more of a wake up and check if tonights a no go or not kind of deal.
  15. Probably busy finishing his ebay listings. Like any sane man would at this stage
  16. That could be the alternative I was reading about, as I remember they said it connected to the handset and not the aux port. Maybe this would work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/USR-WIFI232-610-Serial-802-11-Ethernet-Converter/dp/B00QWYW8E4
  17. You need to articulate "anything". Point it at daytime sky can you see blue? or is it constantly black, wherever you point it (sky, neigbors house, trees ect? Do you have a couple of eyepeices? If so use the one with the largest mm number written on the side. Also in regards to aligning, what steps did you take, what object did you use to align it, sorry to ask a silly question but you know you have to make sure the finder and the actual scope are pointing at the same thing right, and not just point the finder at something.
  18. Not planning on buying it, just curiosity, as the price is reasonable., could be a bargain, could be a lemon <shrug>
  19. Not that he is willing to admit anyways
  20. I'm suprised theres no cheaper 3rd party alternative, with the amount of people who have or will swop across at some point. Cheers for the tip on the version, I assumed there would be so that was probably going to be a question at some point. Bl**dy rip off though considering the costs of wifi adapters and boosters these days.
  21. I think the main challenge with progess is expectations (which are good problems essentially). In essence, most things in life are easier.
  22. Unfortunately, you then have to balance that out against the additional cost of your life span increase from not prematurely killing yourself. Maybe drinking is a happy medium
