  1. The alignment shoukd get better with every object slewed to. What alignment process were you using? If it was one star alignment it will be slightly off. I usually use North level alignment and the first one is off a bit the but the next and next one are centred. I think @happy-kat uses 1 star alignment but does this alignment more than once and gets accurate gotos and works for them. Enjoy your holiday in Cornwall it's beautiful here. Lee
  2. Thank you. Yes it's still massive and the skies are nice and dark though not always clear. Lee
  3. Thank you. The main street in my village isn't the best place but it's very rural North Cornwall village so plenty of dark skies available and visable milky-way. Yes you are correct in that Doc Martin mentions Delabole and used many buildings on my village to film. Port Isaac which it's set in is 3 miles down the road. Lee
  4. Thank you, means a lot. Can I ask which one you prefer, I'm quite undecided. Thank you in advance. Lee
  5. I've had a slight rework of this image as I wasn't to happy with the building seeming to be pointing to a triangular peak towards the top of the image. What do you guys think comparing the 2 together? Lee
  6. Haha that could of been it! Though I didn't have high heels on as it was a weekday 😂. Thank you that's kind of you. I think if we searched enough there's quite a few tumbles into dug graves 😂
  7. Thank you so much Paul. Your beautiful images and vlogs give me the inspiration and ideas to try harder. It was tough controlling the lighting on the church so I'm pleased it's looking good. I'm trying to find iconic or interesting buildings or objects around the village to Nightscape image, some have quite a lot of LP and on main road or where the local ravages hang out, so tricky if even not possible! I don't mind creeping around the churchyards or cemeterys as its the living you have to worry about not the deceased! Though as you say I wonder what people woukd think if they saw me, probably think I'm strange. Haha 😂 I hope it cleaned off well. . I'm sure there's a sitcom scene I remember when someone tumbled into a dug grave before
  8. No not holding onto the kit, it was set up taking the sky images just scrabbling around on my back like a tortoise 😂
  9. Thank you 😊. One thing about imaging a village church on the rural high street is to be very quiet and not spook people when perching close to the hedge near the pavement. Though I did do a Bob Mortimer and had a problem with gravity as I went to sit down and rolled back into a ditch (yes it was a ditch and not a dug grave 😉) against the hedge 😂. Lee
  10. Thank you 😊 The floodlight probably does help with silhouettes but was a swine to control the exposure and not blowing it all out. There's a streetlight above the floodlight too. There is a slight harder edge to the left hand ground to the sky but in my defence there is a bungalow there in the ajoining ground so didn't want it in there, so that's probably why it looks a bit strong. I did try to blend it in a bit without overdoing it, maybe I was a bit conservative but I think or works ok. 😊 Lee
  11. I really wanted to Nightscape our village parish church here in Delabole as its such a beautiful building. There's a large floodlight that the warden uses to light up the building which is a real shame so fighting with controlling the image with that blaring. I checked with the warden if it was ok to be creeping about in the churchyard at night, so as not to scare the villagers that the dead were rising. Imaged with Canon 600D and Samyang 14mm. Panorama 2 vertical image composite of 10x10 sec images for the sky at 1600 iso f. 2.8 5x1 200iso sec images for the church Processed in Photoshop. Hoping the congregation enjoys this image as never been imaged at night before. I think I shall have to calibrate my laptop screen as its a bit lighter on there than what it looks like on devices. (worth a click) Lee
  12. You should be pleased with your image it's brilliant, well done. Even with shooting at 0 gain it's still a fab image. 👏 Lee
  13. Good luck and hope you have a great season. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it. 👍 Lee
  14. I use the zwo asi294mc pro and have no trouble with calibration. The amp glow is calibrated out with dark frames and I no issue taking flat and flat dark frames. I use a ovl flattener on my 72ed so recommended getting the flattener. I also use an Astronomik L3 filter. I like the larger sensor so I can frame most larger targets easier. Lee
  15. Nice job Steve. I can see there's more contrast, the background is more uniform and definite improvement. Well done 👏 Lee
  16. Ooopsss mods can you move this to the planetary imaging thread please, I posted it here by mistake, sorry. Lee
  17. Imaged this early this morning around 4am here in North Cornwall. Taken with Skymax 90mm on AzGti. Zwo asi120mc-s x2 Barlow. Processed in autostakkert 3,registax and photoshop. 5000 frames captured with Sharpcap at 3 mins best 20% stacked. There's a slight ringing effect here, maybe something in the stacking or because it was a long capture. Will have another go at some of the shorter captures I made. I'm impressed that the little Skymax 90mm pulled this one out, it really does punch above it's weight. Lee
  18. I have to go through this mornings captures but I have a few on the planetary imaging section from previous attempts. It really does a good job, though obviously better planetary cameras do a great job much better. Here's a couple of previous ones. Jupiter no Barlow. Saturn x2 Barlow. Lee
  19. Great report. I too was out around 2am to start with to let the 90mm mak cool and perform alignment with my AzGti. Then clouds rolled in. I thought I'd wait it out as it wasn't a school night (because when it clouds over I usually pack up and go home) but this time I stayed and was rewarded around 3.30 am with breaks in the cloud leading to nice clear skies. So got a few captures of Jupiter with my asi120mc-s and x2 Barlow, Saturn was to low by this time and in the murk. The seeing was a bit wobbly and the stars were twinkling well previously but settled by 4am. Onto the moon for a few more close up captures of the terminator. The battery on the laptop was dying by now so popped the 32mm eyepiece in an stared at the moon jaw dropping. Then to Jupiter looking really sharp with the bands and just making out the grs. I noticed Orion was well risen above the horizon tried for M42 but the moon washing most of it out but trapezium nicely in view. After weeks of cloud and no opportunity was pleased to be out looking at anything skywards that wasn't clouds. Lee
