SCT collination help
barkingsteve replied to space3's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Bob's knob's will make future collimation much easier but you will have to initially go through that again. It is worth it in the long run in my opinion. I threaded 2 of my original screws and i do not regret changing over. -
C925 with the 178 mono and a 685 ir pass filter. best 25% of 1.5k processed in photoshop. Seeing was average and windy ( again ) but i Still need to improve on processing techniques.
-
First image of venus for me. Had the 178 mono and baader 685 ir pass filter in for the moon but i still had line of sight for venus. will have to try sometime with a barlow and the 385 colour

Looks like we had similar conditions, just processing my mono data from last night now

Anyone who watches redlettermedia knows that Rich and Mike especially are huge star trek fans. Without trying to troll or offend anyone, if this was a generic sci fi series it would be fine but it is not 'star trek' that millions have watched and loved over the past 50+ years. If you are looking for a continuation of the Picard and star trek you knew from TNG and the films, this is not it in my opinion. This is not Gene Roddenberry's star trek, again my opinion. I am glad you enjoy it.

Prototype Sky-Watcher Evolux ED Refractors
barkingsteve replied to FLO's topic in Sponsor Announcements and Offers
Excuse my ignorance but i thought the focal ratio was the focal length divided by the aperture ? these numbers are a little confusing to me. Technical Specifications: Optical Design - Refractor Aperture - 82mm Focal Length - 400mm (without reducer)/ F=360 (with optional reducer) Focal Ratio - f/6.4 or (f/5.8 with optional reducer) Weight - 2.6kg Edit: looks like a mix up, i think they are the 62mm version focal lengths and ratio. -
With clear skies and a 30mph gust i was not going to be deterred to test my new toy, the 178 mono. Evolution 925 with 178 mono at F/10. 8 panels stitched in ICE , best 25% of 1k and sharpened in as3! processed and resized in photoshop. A couple of bits missing but this is more of a 'test'

First image looks like you are approaching the moon in a space capsule
-
After battling the wind i managed to get some decent data last night. All taken with the evolution 925, all best 20% of 1k and processed in photoshop. First up, a few with the 385c with a baader neodymium at F/10 And a few with the 294mc pro, 4 panel mosaic is F/10 and the others are with a 2.5x barlow.

I had some more data that i have just processed from the other night. This is a 2 panel mosaic at F/10, bin 2 with the 294mc pro. Best 20% of 1.5k frames, stacked in as3, sharpened in registax and processed in photoshop. Also i found a close up of clavius with the 385c at f/20.
-
Hi Tony, thank you. I used a bahtinov mask and focused on a bright star close to the moon, betelguese in this case and they are stacks, 15% of 1k - 2k frames.
-
C925. first image is with the 294mc pro and 0.63x reducer, the rest is with the 385c without reducer and a few with a 2x barlow at bin 2.

HiRobertl, it was with sharpcap pro and yes the evolution mount. With the built in battery, wifi and 3 star alignment it makes eaa a breeze except when you cock up the master darks/flats 😕 i do still need to sort out a sig Thank you Vulisha, yes i think i have had about 4 cloudless nights in the last 40 days perhaps when i retire ( in the next decade or so ) i will be able to take advantage of every clear night
-
Hi Michael, yes it is. I had done a new set of master darks that night, looks like i will have to do a new set 😕 something went wrong somewhere

If i did not have the 294 i would be all over this. Perfect fit for the night owl 0.4x reducer, should make a superb EAA camera. I am tempted

Not off to a good start
barkingsteve replied to Neil H's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Another vote here for stellarium, it is free which is already a winner in my book -
From May 13th with the C925, 2x barlow and 385c camera. Copernicus and Eratosthenes, wish i had kept the original video now that i am a little more experienced with post processing, this was a very steady, clear night.

Hi Howie, thank you. I am in bortle 8-9 skies close to London, although this filter is not as narrow ( or expensive ) as some tri band filters it still does a great job imo
