  1. Hi Stu, I was out again, lol. Glad your seeing was better today. Didn't think mine was so didn't use the big scope. Hopefully tomorrow. I'm getting such a back log of data to process. Three days in a row but my thought is to concentrate on acquiring the data and when it's cloudy I'll sit down and do the processing.
  2. Thanks David, it's a start using the big gun, lol.
  3. Thanks Paul, I think we sometimes get hung up on not doing solar because we think the best is hydrogen alpha or true cak which is expensive. This shows us it's still worth doing even with cheaper solar white light filters and adding continuume or baader k-line.
  4. Sorry to hear your awful news. I hope you're able to get it fixed at not to much expense. I feel for you. So easy to do when your closing up.
  5. Thanks Stu and mog, appreciate your comments. The seeing Stu was boiling, lol had to up the gain and reduce exposure to get better lucky imaging better.
  6. Just experimenting today with the big gun, C11. Used the white light filter and baader k-Line filter. I did image too with the Lunt 60DS and 80ED baader K-Line scopes but not processed these images yet. The C11 is experimental. Seeing wasn't great and sun going down towards my hedge. I think it has potential as a big gun solar L-Line scope for the summer.
  7. My little gun and big gun both used with baader k-line filter.
  8. I had a terrible session the one before yesterday. I do solar and then my solarquest mount for some reason wouldn't lock on to any GPS satellites. It won't do anything if it doesn't. Took an hour turning it on and off. Finally picked up the GPS signal and off it went and did it stuff as normal but by then clouds started to gather. Also I had dust bunnies that I couldn't get rid of and took another half hour before finally able to image. Yes I was very frustrated, yes I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks so that didn't help. I question the validity of what I'm doing when things go wrong but keep going nonetheless. From that session I finally got this. Was it worth it, he'll yeah.
  9. Thanks Pete, appreciated. Yes, activity is ramping up a little.
  10. Hi, yes I did manage it a couple of days ago, apparently there were two large one's yesterday.
  11. Hi all, please find attached images from the 21st February using the lunt DS and 80ed K-Line scopes. Zwo Asi 178mm was used to capture all images. PH CS2, Autostakker3 and ImPPG was used to process the raw Avi files.
  12. Sorry Vineyard, can't do nothing about the clouds, lol. If it's clear Thursday I'll try not to disappoint, lol.
  13. Cloudy here till Thursday according to forecast 😭😭
  14. Beautiful capture, love the animation, something I'd love to try. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Thanks, I do seem to have more clear sky during the day than at night or it just might be that I'm aware being up and about during daylight whereas at night I may look out and if it's cloudy I'll go to the land of nod and not be aware of any clear spells later. Solar imaging/observing is very worthwhile and dynamic, always changing, I love it, perhaps because I don't have to stay up late, lol. So frustrations aside whatever we observe/image it's worth it in the end.
  16. Hi all, just had to get this off my chest. I've had the most frustrating start to my solar imaging session I've ever had. It all started with the solarquest mount which wouldn't lock on to any GPS satellites. Took half an hour with switching on and off. Usually takes about a minute. Next after tuning the ha scope find I've several dark dust bunnies on the cmos chip. Took me another half hour to finally clean off all of them. That's what I get having to switch camera's from the ha scope to the baader k line scope. Me thinks another camera needs ordering. Usually I keep the camera on the ha scope and never take it off. That way it's never caused a problem untill I got the second scope for K-Line imaging. Finally after messing around for over an hour I got imaging. How frustrating this hobby can be. I'm usually up and running in ten minutes. Good job there was plenty of clear sky this afternoon and didn't have to chase gap's in the cloud. Hopefully the data I've collected will be good. There were two sunspot groups, one with a single spot and another with three. Several small filaments and a few small prominences and a fairly big one. Three plage area's too. Hope it remains clear tonight for all of you night time observers/imagers.
  17. Hi David, yes and no. I just about get a full disk pic 1, but do also use a 0.5 reducer without it I'm having to image at the next resolution down under region of interest. Hope that makes sense. Difference between the two in the images below. I think not using the reducer seems better.
  18. Welcome Steve, you just need patience and perseverance in this hobby, lol.
  19. Welcome to the forum, first, have fun with the hobby.
  20. Early morning is best for solar observation and hopefully you'll be able to use higher power eyepieces as well. Viewing those sunspots when they occur and granulation is spectacular (use solar filter is mandatory). Have fun.
