  1. Hey folks I have setup a twitch stream for anyone who wants to follow along with either live imaging or processing . I was previously doing videos for youtube of my images using video creation software , now I am using the Twitch system to make the videos which means we can have some fun doing this stuff live and then edit the recorded video and upload that to youtube. I will update this thread when I go live , which I will be in a few mins processing the cocoon nebula. (of course its cloudy) Twitch Link:https://www.twitch.tv/AstroPhotography Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/soreal'sentropiauniverse
  2. similar thing happened to me after I had been "fiddling" in my case it turned out my focal length entry was missing
  3. how odd , sigs not visible here unless logged in , just checked on another PC too. anyway its : http://www.sorealwarps.com/astro/
  4. Canon 450D here , images from this camera are on my website in my sig . They work fine
  5. paid for it here , i consider the cost as a donation for continued development or maybe a few beers. Whichever its well worth it
  6. Heya , thanks for the answers guys , looks like it may be ok . I love my 200PDS , how are you finding it ?
  7. Hi Folks working on a small project here and am thinking about putting a webcam in my observatory. I do have a USB feed out there so the question is , I am going to have to provide infra red light out there to enable the webcam to "see" , will this red light affect the seeing of the telescope and do I have to goto the expense of a webcam with "night vision" or could I just supply the light from a few LED's ? Thanks for reading
  8. after seeing this baader are now off my shopping list . I am looking at getting filters in the near future complete set LRGB , Ha SII and OIII. So thanks for the heads up on this manufacturer and I'm sorry for your hassles
  9. hmm no one know ? or did I put this in the wrong section of the forum lol
  10. I am thinking of moving on from DSLR imaging and have been looking at different cameras. I want to go the mono route with a filter wheel and was wondering if the QHY 183 on a 200PDS would work properly together. In the CCD suitability calculator I see this : If I use 2 *2 binning then we see this . which looks ok , I just wondered if binning would be an acceptable thing to do or would the "slight over sampling " really make a detrimental effect ? Also what about focusing , would a QHY183 on a coma corrector and a filter wheel focus ok on a 200 PDS ? thanks Paul
  11. I had this problem too , I took a wander up to our local hardware store they had loads. this might be your best bet . I can't get them in the DIY stores here in the Netherlands ( its all metric) and I think this might be the same in places like B&Q The older family run kind of hardware store is the place to go This kind of place
  12. thats what I use . You only need power at the scope end and they work really well
  13. this is what I use : https://www.bigbathroomshop.co.uk/biard-led-20w-300mm-x-300mm-panel-light-white-frame-64873 it was £13 but now seems to be 18 Worth a punt ?
  14. same mount and camera I use , and no ive not seen this happen , I guide all night with little problem. I do use EQmod , and dont use the extra guiding cable , maybe this is the problem ?
  15. Hi Welcome , my advice , read read read especially in this forum before buying, lots of people and information here which will guide you in the correct direction just try not to drift onto youtube "selling" videos , a lot of the gear there is something you wont need just yet , or maybe never (also in NL here )
  16. The EQ6 should be fine I think unless your going to get into the realms of things like RASA's
  17. Think ahead , what telescope is ok for my mount is the question Then when you want a bigger scope upgrading the mount may not be an issue GL !
  18. My 2p: PI is not that hard to get to grips with , for me its just a different interface to say for example photoshop, also when I moved from PS to PI I actually found the processing process to me more logical and structured. However to be on topic , I sometimes get one or maybe two subs with plane trails and as I am doing a lot of subs I normally just dump them. Not sure if APP can get rid of them , never used it.
  19. I studied this subject for about a year before buying anything , most of the reading I did was this forum . Then bought Make Every Photon count , read that, then decided what I needed . You can also watch youtube "review" videos of the various equipment available but beware some of these are done by very experienced imagers with a lot of followers who are trying to sell expensive gear which you wont need right now for their suppliers.
  20. Nope I never do intial star alignment , just set scope in home position , slew to what I need to image and then platesolve using APT , then use the GOTO ++ to centre the image.
  21. Hi mate couple of videos I did here on how to do all this plate solving malarky with APT , might help you out .
  22. very nice pics mate, ive been doing these two as well last few weeks . Very cool that you got quite a nice view of IC 4617 there as well which I believe is like 500 million light years away. Really good
  23. I have this on my system as my "auto" focuser (auto is probably the wrong word here) https://www.modernastronomy.com/shop/accessories/focusers/sky-watcher-auto-focuser-hitecastro-dc-focus-controller-combo/ This is supposed to only fit the standard skywatcher focuser but by following this video I was able to fit it to my 200 PDS Here is a video I did last night showing it being used via APT. It also works fine using the focuser controls in APT. Hope this helps
  24. Mostly I set the camera settings using APT , so its generally , RAW , 800 or 1600 ISO exposure time and number of exposures is set using an APT plan. One thing that did catch me out was image rotation. This needs to be turned off really in the camera settings. Also once you have connected APT and are ready to image press the DISP button on the camera , will really save your battery time . Good luck
