  1. depends on the quality of the cable manufacture. I tend to stick with Startech.com or lindy.co.uk what brand is the 25cm one? I have a qhy5-II mono and use a startech short usb cable and no problems.
  2. I use one of these left over from my Amateur radio days and serves me fine with various outputs
  3. Red skies here all day and a coating on my car even the rain when it came down early afternoon was "dirty" as mentioned on radio 1 on my way home from work.

  11. No just found Deep-Sky Companions: The Caldwell Objects for 13 quid so on the way to a friend in the UK albeit wont get it till Easter as seller would not post to France
  12. Motor direction of motion is correct? Move Declination a little (10 or 20 deg.) left and right of the home position (NCP/SCP) and watching from behind the mount see if the telescope movement matches the screen. Reverse Axis2 if it goes the wrong way. Once that is working do a goto to a point half way up in the sky but not too far in home position (40 degrees away or so.) If it points down toward the ground RA needs to be reversed. you have setup NINA with correct co-ordinates for your location and the time is correct
  13. Make sure the dynamic libraries cache is updated: sudo ldconfig -v If you are getting output similar to this when running your app: [INFO ] GL: OpenGL vendor <b'VMware, Inc.'> [INFO ] GL: OpenGL renderer <b'llvmpipe (LLVM 9.0.1, 128 bits)'> Then it means that the renderer is NOT hardware accelerated. This can be fixed by adding your user to the render group: sudo adduser "$USER" render You will then see an output similar to this: [INFO ] GL: OpenGL vendor <b'Broadcom'> [INFO ] GL: OpenGL renderer <b'V3D 4.2'> maybe above might resolve your problem worth a try
  14. Well this turned up today a first edition in mint condition now on the hunt for for the second book
  15. https://kivy.org/doc/stable/installation/installation-rpi.html#install-source-rpi sudo apt update sudo apt install pkg-config libgl1-mesa-dev libgles2-mesa-dev \ libgstreamer1.0-dev \ gstreamer1.0-plugins-{bad,base,good,ugly} \ gstreamer1.0-{omx,alsa} libmtdev-dev \ xclip xsel libjpeg-dev sudo apt install libsdl2-dev libsdl2-image-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev libsdl2-ttf-dev Finally, you need to add this to your .profile file in your home directory PATH="/home/astroberry/.local/bin:$PATH"

  19. snaffled a couple of great info from your site thanks
  20. Don't know answer to that maybe ask George and fire off the mov file to him on onstep to have a look, as to me something is not central could be the coupler at fault "tolerance" and the 5mm rod is a snug fit before tightening the grub screws on the coupler unless there is play in the worm gear on the RA axis ie not parallel on the mount?
  21. you answered that yourself i think as you quoted " I can't mount the gear directly to the RA shaft as it won't clear the locking handle" On the Dec yes? So you need clearance as you have the RA gear with the grub screw section facing outwards as opposed to facing inwards
  22. is the steel rod that's attached to the coupling (is is a ridgid one or a flexible coupling) is the rod keyed (ie a flat on it) or cylindrical. if cylindrical and on the coupling there are 2 grub screws the rod might not be centralised if you understand. And throw it of balance ideally you would mount the large gear directly onto the RA shaft can you not turn the RA gear the other way round of does this provide enough room to attach the belt? also on the motor rotate the pinion gear as well
