  1. +1. Absolutely. Just look at those gradients. This was our effort last night, the moon gradient not helped by high haze. From the edge of a small village with a -desperately-in-need-of-tlc- 6" telescope and equally bashed around eos700d. No need to sit out if it's too cold. This session was controlled through to dawn using EKOS' scheduler. Keep a check using your 'phone if you feel the need. All around 2 1/2 hours in 3 minute frames. No need to spend hours/days processing either. Around 20 minutes per shot on a fast ryzen. Full moon again tonight:) ngc1342 ngc1528 m41 m108
  2. Ah, OK. Is it possible to remove the mirror? If not cut, shorten and sleeve the tube? Dunno...
  3. Hi Assuming this is not a pds... Remove the short bolts securing the mirror cell to its frame and replace with 4cm M5 bolts. This will allow you the primary mirror adjustment -tiesrd the secondary- you need to bring the 450 to focus. Cheers and HTH.
  4. Hi Nice image, especially under moonlit conditions. I don't think the moon helped but also, the flat frames don't seem to be working which make it difficult to process. Still can't work out what the filter does! Cheers
  5. Not just the ring. The adapter as well. You'll see two slots in the M42 thread. Use the blade of a knife to unscrew it: https://linuxcostablanca.blogspot.com/2021/04/baader-coma-corrector-spacing.html On newer batches, the M42 connection was just about workable, but we'd still recommend losing it and going with m48. Suerte.
  6. Well done. You'll love it. Don't forget to remove the adapter and screw an extension onto the cc. A thin 2" filter -without the glass- is usually just right. Good luck.
  7. Loadsa detail. Love it. Maybe just leave it with the nice field of view you have? It hangs nicely.
  8. Hi everyone Nice to get away from filters for this one. Much easier to process. Thanks for looking. 700d on nt150s
  9. Hi everyone Testing an old €50 eos450d. For the record, no bias frames. Just light and flat. We subtracted the median value instead. Nice, clean and more importantly without the usual eos banding. Yeyhh! Albeit a bit noisy. I suppose you can't win 'em all. Thanks for looking and do post your no-bias efforts if you've had a go. Feliz año / Happy new year to all.
  10. Yep. Well done. You're on your way now:) Green? Use Image Proicessing -> Remove Green Noise It's as easy as that.
  11. An ultra-short t2 adapter is not a t2 adapter. It is an ultra-short T2 adapter. The OP does not need an ultra-short T2 adapter. The OP does not require a T2 adapter of any sort. Cheers
  12. T and T2 rings have a fixed length for a given camera. The thickness is that which gives 55mm from the front face of the ring to the sensor.
  13. No. The SW 0.9 cc has only the m48 option. This one for example. What is '44x Nikon T2 Adapters'. HTH
  14. Haven't tried with a 6d but with modern sensors, there isn't need to take bias or dark flat frames. Subtraction of the median works fine. E.g. on a 700d, this value is 2048 (round to the nearest power of 2). Use this value on your light and flat frames and away you go. In fact this method is recommended and implemented in the latest version of Siril. Worth a try? Cheers
  15. Hi Hands on tells us that... For any DSLR we've tried, (Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony come to mind) dark frames of any sort have served only to make processing the image more difficult. If you really must, the dark optimisation routine in the latest version of Siril is the only way we've come close. But even then... Cheers
  16. If you want affordable, wide and reasonable correction, try the older m42 Takumar 55mm. At f5.6 it will just about do corner to corner over ff. Don't expect telescope quality though. Cheers
  17. Hi With the Takumar 28mm, you need to be f8 or smaller. maybe better with 2 panes and the 55mm Takumar which performs well at f5.6. It seems that the lens isn't square with the sensor. Have a look at this adapter which gives you a bit of wiggle room. On some old Takumars the auto pin bears against the flange causing tilt. A three square file or a flange-less adapter is your friend there. Or simply file off the pin;) Otherwise, the 6d is a fine low noise camera. It's just a matter of finding something which will cover it. Had a go at the vignetting and edge stars in StarTools' lens module, but not much we can do without flat frames. Cheers and HTH
  18. Ooops, Forgot a step. Please see the edit above.
  19. Create an empty folder and set the working directory to it. Load all your light frames using the Conversion tab. Click the '+' to add from different sessions successively. **EDIT** FORGOT: set a name in Sequence name **EDIT** Hit the Convert button. Proceed as if you had a single sequence. That's it. HTH and good luck with your m45. Do post your result.
  20. Never give up! I had a go, but a few things make it difficult. I was expecting around 3000 x 2000 pixels but got only 1664 x 1015 The tifs from dss are deflated. I'd recommend working with the .fits file instead. Even better, try Siril which gives you the data, the whole data and nothing but the data. The flat frames don't seem to have worked very well. I tried a synthetic flat but it would be a lot easier with the real thing. I don't know what type of filter you used, but I'm hopeless with colour anyway... This is with the channels loaded HOO. All these bits and pieces are easy to correct. Otherwise as expected, the reflector has produced some wonderful detail. Well done. Cheers, happy new year and HTH.
  21. Hi everyone 2264 is what kstars idenitifies as centre field, but move even slightly to one side and other designations snap into view... anyway. With Leo and the galaxies rising after midnight, this looks like being one of the last mw images until May-June time. It's full of stuff and the usual red glow is more brown, as confirmed by a run by Siril's colour calibration. Nice not to have to fight any filters this time. Any other non-filtered dslr images, we'd be interested to see what you made of the colour. Thanks for looking. 700d + 72ed Siril 1.0.0 rc3 + ST 1.8.522
  22. I placed the diagram for you here.
