  1. I think the distance is very close, possibly just a bit of tilt in one corner. Two images attached of each corner, just quick crops from raw stacks. Happy with the HA but LRGB filters are never as good. All Baadar 2" filters. RGB HA

  3. Fantastic image. How have you got the stars so pinpoint at the edges on APS-C? I can't get them that good even with my 1600MM.
  4. Clouds of dark nebula swimming through the background stars of Cepheus. 7.2 hours with RASA 8 + ZWO 1600MM Pro (with RGB filters). Higher res on AstroBin
  5. No. Sony lenses need to be much closer to the sensor than canon lenses. You can adapt Canon to Sony but not Sony to canon.
  6. I picked up a second hand Canon 6d late last year and got it modified with the intentions of using it for astro landscapes. Not managed that yet so decided to piggyback it on scope and see what it gets. Lost an hour of exposure time last night due to clouds on our still very short nights - this is just over 2 hours with Canon 200mm 2.8ii.
  7. I use the Canon 200mm 2.8ii on full frame and am getting good results from it, though I stop it down a bit to f3.5 or f4. Never used the Samyang 135 but am very interested in the lens. Have bought Samyang once before and had to send it back as elements were clearly misaligned. Anyone know if they have improved their quality control or do you need to send back X number of copies to get a good one?
  8. It has a very slight crop but not much, it pretty much fills a 200mm frame on full frame. This is taken in Bortle 5 skies and it never really gets properly dark here. You can use short exposures to avoid star trailing to some extent - this is a stack of 4 second exposures but it was on a badly aligned tracker. Experiment and find what focal length you can get away with.
  9. Certainly is! It's only 10 mins or so walk away so tend to photograph it a lot and has slightly bit darker sky.
  10. This is (so far) my best attempt at the comet taken last night. Sky was hazy and not really very dark (@ 1am - 2am). It's 69x 20 second exposures (800iso) with Canon 6d and 200 2.8 lens. Stacked in Pixinsight with CometAlignment and then stars added back in Photoshop.   12. I've had issues with specific cables. I've always put it down to using very long usb3 cables between scope and pc. I've recently started having far fewer issues by ditching usb3 and using the 1600pro with usb2. Good luck.
  13. I thought it was a starlink pic on first glance! Contact Firstlight, sure they'll sort any issues. Mine has been running at almost 80% on cooler for last two night to get to -20, no issues. Perhaps try switching USB cables.
  14. The recent clear skies gave me the chance to try a mosaic which only tried once before and only in B/W so this was a bit of a challenge to capture and process. This is a two frame mosaic of M81/M82 & Surrounding IFN. Each frame is approx 13 hours in LRGB so approx 26 hours in total. Taken with ZWO 1600MMPro and Rasa 8. https://www.astrobin.com/s9uean/

  16. Thanks Adrian. Polaris is surrounded by IFN - try search Astrobin and you'll get various widefield images showing how extensive it is.
  17. This is a small area of integrated flux nebula (IFN) near to Polaris. I just love the jellyfish like structure, it makes me think of some strange sea creature swimming through the depths of a dark ocean.   18. Thanks Adrian. This is just to the left of the Orion Nebula. I'd hoped to get a lot more data but don't think there is any more time until later in the year so may revisit this one. Very impressed with the RASA, but also very hard to get good stars into the corners. Similar to working with fast lenses I guess.

  20. Regarding scope covers I recently bought this from amazon. It's huge, too big really, but works rather well for an emergency cover for fully setup mount + scope. Just use a few bungee cords to hold it in place.   22. Thanks Michael .... just ran it through BPP with bias as darks and have to say I can't tell any different to the one with matching darks.
  23. It was dithered too .... set to medium in SGP. Not sure how many pixels that is but will reprocess as you say as an experiment. Thanks
