  1. They are lucky, that they just watch what they love, chat about it all day, sell tshirts and just enjoy it. And presumably earn a decent living from it. And get to play with some amazing remote cameras!
  2. Oh yes, I'm happy to be a beta tester if you need it.
  3. Excellent - well keep up the good work! I was thinking at 10-20fps? Even 5fps would show cloud movement, birds etc. Basically an mjpg stream or something an NVR can recognise and display - the rpi wouldn't need to do anything apart from serve, the NVR could record as per any other CCTV. Then at a set time, denoted by sunset, a program could stop OAcapture, and start the allsky program (they can't both talk to the camera at the same time as I'm sure you already know).
  4. That has been discussed - super delivery service - US to Aus in what, 10 minutes?
  5. I've just read that you're actively involved with OACapture? Well I've certainly asked the right person for help. Can I do what I want - output the camera preview to a webserver rather than remote desktop to the rpi? It would be great to be able to embed this into an internal webpage, along with my rpi system monitor (temps etc) and weather data.
  6. Certainly been scrubbed for today - everything ok except full FAA approval.
  7. Main goal is for the 178MC to act as a live allsky at max fps via a web server by day (to hook up to an NVR with other network CCTV cameras) but switch to the allsky software at sunset, to do the cloud monitoring, nightly timelapse, keogram etc. Getting an image on screen is a good start. Thanks again, don't ask don't get!
  8. Thanks @JamesF some success... (ASI 178MC with 360 lens looking out of a window!)
  9. Well the indi-full package installed it seems so that's something! Next up, try to get other things to work. Thanks so far...
  10. I don't know....I see a lot of 'if it's not broke, don't fix it'....maybe new buyers will go CMOS, but CCD 'upgrade' to CMOS for the same FOV? I thought you may have a QSI 683...I'm like a sniffer dog for those! Looking everywhere for a properly priced one.
  11. I did see that, but this Pi isn't going to be used for mount control, more of an outdoor allsky / gps / sky monitor etc. Pretty much - new Raspberry OS (Buster) which is based on Debian. I don't really want to start again, it's taken hours to get this far! Only really installed a few bits - Allsky from github, ntp server, filezilla, firecapture (that's also not working well). I've also set it up to run from an SSD via USB3 but that shouldn't affect software installation.
  12. TFR apparently granted and local village evacuation started (normal procedures for launches).
  13. I'm playing with a new Rpi 4 for various reasons, and I wanted to get my head around Indi. I've installed Raspberry Buster and have a ZWO camera working as an allsky at the moment. I'm not Linux inclined at all but can follow instructions and get certain things to work. The Indi webpage is blank for the Rpi download bizarrely and I can't for the life of me make from a github clone. I don't understand it enough and it's moaning about missing directories, dependancies (too much to list here). Does anyone have a binary install (.deb?) that I can try? OA Capture is also another one I'm strugg ling to install. Even a basic fswebcam test doesn't work. This is tricky coming from 25+ years of MSDOS->Win10!
  14. Current SpaceX SN9 test flight is currently sat waiting for the FAA to approve a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) to other aircraft in the area to allow the rocket launch.
  15. Whhhhhy? What have I missed! And....what do you have that might be available?
  16. Launch definitely scrubbed, they will try again tomorrow pending FAA approval (Friday). Tune in!
  17. Latest as of 17:40 GMT is that today’s launch has been scrubbed. They may still perform other tests though so maybe good to keep watching.
  18. SN9 is currently sat on the launchpad but on hold as the tfr (temporary flight restriction) in the area has been lifted meaning no rocket launch for now. They’re saying the spacex team have not yet removed local road closures etc so not actually sure whether any testing going ahead today. Still, lots of time left in the launch window. The last one sn8 went in the final half an hour if I remember.
  19. I've just bought an rpi4b and have installed an allsky application from GitHub - thomasjacquin/allsky: A Raspberry Pi operated Wireless Allsky Camera I may have seen this mentioned on SGL somewhere already. It's not perfect and I have some suggestions for improvements, but I cannot do it myself as I don't code to that level (or much at all) What it does do, it does very well - have a look. The best feature is a web server so any device on your LAN or even internet (with the correct port forwarding etc) can see the latest image, stored images, generated timelapse. generated keogram etc. I'm afraid Windows + Allskye (others are available of course) has been surpassed. The PI has the poe hat for 1 cable operation and as mentioned above, there should be enough power for a dome heater. Tonight's test using a ZWO 178MC and Fujinon fisheye lens under an older scratched dome. It should also work well with the new Pi camera.
  20. I wondered a few months ago why they didn't fit a belt rather than 3 brass cogs - surely better and cheaper? Anyone fancy doing this?
