well-controlled light painting works nicely with the relatively gentle NLC display
Thank you for noticing! I aimed to get a good balance and not overdo the foreground...
..having some restful nights under normal cloud.

...over a derelict shooting house above Swaledale, N. Yorkshire. The faint white wispy stuff...
...sort of heads up for the ongoing competition - SGL 2022 Challenge 5 - Noctilucent Clouds.
Just before midnight June 1st. Sky - 3.2s, f3.5, iso800, light painted foreground 3 x f6.3, 3.2s, iso400. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 105mm.
Looking forward to bigger and brighter displays!! Paul.

a succession of flares from a satellite train
Very novel!
I would go with your explanation above. Any con/divergance in the trains due to the elapsed time? It'll be Musk, grrrrrr.
Cheers, Paul.

" Busy " foregrounds
Hi Dave, yes, they are a bit in your face. Goes down well with the wider public. Personal preference would be more restrained. (Original image updated with quieter version...)
I find ambient foregrounds can be very flat. Using the lighting is great to give depth and also a sense of location. A second image from the session at 50mm, 16 x 5s for sky. Composition doesn't excite.
Thank you! Noctilucent Cloud season in 6 weeks...
...cheers, Paul.

Gorgeous and fascinating!
I've noted the area for my recently acquired Sigma 105 f1.4 lens.
Thank you Goran.

Revisited one of my first light painted subjects last night. A lead mining relic on a heap of sterile spoil.
Sky 16 x 5s, f2, iso3200. Foreground ~8, 5s, f5, iso800. 50mm Sigma lens on Canon 6D MkII. Attemping to get a larger asterism presence in the image, thin cloud bloating the stars. Social media render...
...cheers, Paul.

To get this image numerous variables needed to align...
...these stars in this small gap to the NNW, no leaves on the trees, enough water and not too much to prevent access, the weather and the moon. Unfortunately the moon was too bright.
Foreground 2 cross lit images, composite sky ~12 stacked 8s, f2.2, iso2500 taken from my home 2km away. LR, Sequator and PS. Canon 6D MkII and Sigma 24mm.
My son has noted that there isn't much 'astro' in the image 😀

@Zummerzet_Leveller really like the feel of this. The lighting on the tree also gives it a bit of depth. Loverly.

@Rustang very true!! I use lens profile correction in Lightroom nowadays. Though tweaked manually as 100% correction setting is too much. Also tried GradientXterminator in Photoshop...
Well worth your trip out!

@Rustang Nice one. Great depth!
As you are using a dslr. The lens orientation to sensor will be a constant? You can take some flats at home??
Cheers, Paul.

Early season faint and wispy noctilucent clouds over a derelict Greets Shooting House high on the moor between Swaledale and Wensleydale, N. Yorkshire.
Just before midnight June 1st. Sky - 3.2s, f3.5, iso800, light painted foreground 3 x f6.3, 3.2s, iso400. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 105mm. Processed in LR and PS.
Better when clicked. Cheers, Paul.
