Orion and Water Cut
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thank you! I love the way the sculpture has turned out. Did you see my 'Snowy nightscapes' post? Quite different. Cheers, Paul. -
Water Cut is one of several sculptures marking the journey of the River Eden. It is in Mallerstang, part of the Westmorland Dales and Cumbria. Bit of a walk! View to S. Sky is 4 x 120s tracked, ~6 light painted foreground. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. LR, Sequator and PS. Click for maximum quality... Paul

Eye surgery asigmatism
clarkpm4242 replied to bomberbaz's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Hi I'm very short sighted (no jokes) with significant astigmatism, presbyopia and the first signs of cataracts. A former NHS doctor. Had many discussions re. corrective surgery. Something I would never have. Just like with camera and scope lenses, astronomy is very critical of problems. The results are okay for everyday vision but may not satisfy astro viewing. You may also still require glasses. I will have cataract surgery in the future. Paul -
A derelict lead mine. Last Sunday evening. It was quite an adventure. I really enjoyed being out there on a snow covered rock in the middle of a stream. Each image is 1 ambient light foreground, several illuminated building shots and 10 sky subs. Pre-processed in Lightroom, stacked in Sequator and finished off in Photoshop. Cheers, Paul.

Extended blackout owing to wind and snow. The view from the back garden early evening yesterday. 2 panes, each 10 x 8s, f2.2, iso 1600, Canon 6DMKII and Sigma 24mm. Processed in LR, Sequator, MSICE and PS. Paul.

CTA 1 Supernova Remnant near NGC 40.
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Deep Sky
Excellent! The forum is a great place of discovery. Plenty of room on the APS-C chip for framing. Paul -
Faint! Stir crazy, so 63 (from 71) x 300s under a 3/4 illuminated moon. RASA 8, ASI2600MC, NBZ dual band filter. DSS and PS. Extends from mid top down anti-clockwise past NGC 40 all the way to the bottom right. Am sure this would work well as a new moon target. Cheers, Paul.

Hi @apaulo I recommend a UHC filter as a first option. Great help in seeing numerous DSOs and has a more natural eyepiece view than e.g. an OIII filter. There are numerous suppliers. Hope you get to use it! Paul

Mill and Milky Way (edit +2nd)
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thank you @FenlandPaul @davew The internal lighting was a different lamp however, I've just replicated the effect in post to rescue an old and very flat image of a derelict barn. Could probably contour the light on the bigger flat sections of wall, ambient light backgound, frame building smaller in the image etc!! I have another mill... ...cheers, Paul -
Practicing foreground techniques under a cloudy sky last night. Milky Way from spring taken about 1km away composited into correct location and scale (8 x120s tracked, 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm). Old Gang Smelt Mill foreground 10 of 20 images, same hardware. Sharpens up when clicked. *edit Surrender Bridge Mill added inc. ambient foreground* The weather blues.... ...Paul

The Dark Side beckons...
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
@FenlandPaul yes, the composition must reflect reality, alignment and scale. Fortunately, my phone fl is effectively 28mm, great for daylight exploration of 24mm based nightscapes. Saw an image with the moon in Eridanus the other day Also, say what you have done. Too late this season to get this setup for real however, Orion should fit nicely. Cheers Paul -
The Dark Side beckons...
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
This is a fake. The sky is from a session last Thursday. The foreground a phone pic on a walk this morning. The night sky would appear like that from that location however, I wasn't there Outrageous behaviour! Paul -
Cow'us and Milky Way
clarkpm4242 replied to clarkpm4242's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thanks @FenlandPaul nature will sort the landscape... Orion will need some tracked sky me thinks... -
Cow'us - cow house is the local dialect for an old field barn. The last of the summer Milky Way nightscapes for this season. 8 x 8s, f2.2, iso 2500 sky, multiple 6s, f4, iso800 for lit foreground. LR, Sequator and PS. Planned a landscape composition with the river however, cloud cover and topography got in the way. Cheers, Paul.

...just had to try these. What a contrasting pair! 72 x 300s, RASA 8, ASI2600MC, IDAS NBZ filter, DSS and PS (StarXterminator & GradientXterminator). Northern Yorkshire Dales. Need to revisit after some sleep! A bit faint. Paul

Giving the plugin a trial on PS. 13 x 5 mins, RASA 8, ASI2600MC, NBZ filter. Interesting colour palette...blown it in a couple of places. Cheers, Paul.
