  1. I got my nephews their first telescope for Christmas. They were watching the landing then were so keen to get out and view Mars to see if they could see anything. Bless them ☺️
  2. A bit to windy for imaging tonight so it’s a bit of visual instead. (So I don’t feel like I’ve wasted a clear night)
  3. My sister in law brought me some land on the moon a few years ago. Completely forgot about it till I seen this post 😬. I must dig out the paperwork and read the details again.
  4. Yes that sounds right. I used this video to set up when I first got the mount and been doing that since. Your setup sounds fine so it much be with a software error of some sort? The only other things I can think of is if you have it set to Southern Hemisphere by mistake or if your hand controller is connected it could be interfering with the app? As I say I’m new to all of this so I’m not the best person to give advice. Maybe if it’s cloudy tonight could you do a test run and see if the mount goes to your target area roughly (if you know where it would be) so the next clear night you hopefully have it sorted.
  5. I set my mount up (I’m using a heq5) and connected everything, done the balance, rough polar align then set my home position. Updated the ASI then done a polar align . I then set it to go to Sirius to get focus. This was slightly out of frame and I couldn’t find it with plate solve but I put this down to the filter I was using and the exposure time. So I manually aligned, got the focus then I set the Goto to the Rosette and it found that without a problem. I then moved to M42 later on which was also ok. All my settings were the same as previous sessions so I didn’t have to change them. Do you think the balance or your coordinates could of had anything to do with it?
  6. I had to update my ASIair tonight, I’ve only used it a handful of times but it seemed to be working fine for me. Was able to slew to targets without a problem. Sorry I can’t be much help, I’m all new to this so I’m still learning.
  7. https://youtube.com/channel/UCx6-8cW9rHGNGhELh83fcCg Just checked this webcam and a live light show 😍
  8. I use a optolong l extreme with my 600D. Only issue I have is it’s a bit tricky to focus as it’s hard to see the stars. I just take a couple second exposures instead of the live view, other than that one it’s fine.
  9. Thank you. Yes lights were saved on the memory stick. I did have a quick look through the manual but couldn’t find much on the subject. I’ll have a proper read through it later on. I was just to eager to make use of the clear skies
  10. Hello everyone. Apologies if this has been covered before or I am making a silly mistake but upon my search I can’t find any helpful information. I have just recently purchased the ASIair pro and finally after a few failed nights I was able to capture some data last night on the horse and flame nebula. I took 12x300sec ISO800 with a unmodded 600D DSLR, RedCat 51 and Optolong Lextreme. After realising the images were a Fits file I stacked them in DSS and took the image to photoshop. In photoshop the image was in the grey channel so I changed to it RGB and done a quick stretch and curve but no detail or colour was showing, just some weird black and grey patterns. Have I done something wrong or is there another process i need to do now the images are in FITS instead of the RAW my DSLR used to take. Or failing that is there a way of saving the images to my camera instead of the SD card. Hope someone has advise and I haven’t missed any important information out. Thanks
  11. First clear sky for what feels like months and I was due to receive my auto guiding equipment today so I was looking forward to setting that up and getting out. Only for the delivery guy to leave a “sorry we missed you” card even tho someone was home all day. 😡 I have lost all interest to go out tonight now
  12. Got an email Tuesday to say these were back in stock. Ordered late Tuesday night and arrived this morning. Merry Christmas Me 😆.... Just wish there was some clear skies in the box as well.
  13. Don’t know if this could be the issue but my Star Adventurer didn’t track properly then it wouldn’t turn off so I sent the unit back and it turned out to be a faulty motherboard. All is sorted now and it works a treat.
  14. Thank you for the comment Moonshed. Very new to this hobby but really keen to get back out when I can and continue to learn. Yes if anyone has any advise or comments it would be good to hear.
  15. Well from owning my equipment since May and after issues with clouds, faulty equipment and a few failed attempts. I finally was able to get my second session in of astrophotography. From what I have learnt so far (which isn’t much) i am quite happy with this image and it has just given me more of the bug to take and produce more and better quality photos. I have seen photos with less data and more detail but for now this is the best I can do. Me equipment is: Redcat 51 with a canon 600D on a Star Adventurer. 150x30 ISO 1600. 25 Darks. 25 Bias. 30 Flats
  16. Took this image of M31 a few weeks ago. My first time using the star adventurer and in fact my first attempt at astrophotography. A lot to learn but happy with what I got so far.
  17. This will be the exact same setup as me. Just waiting for the Redcat to be delivered. How are you getting on with it?
  18. I guess I should of gave a heads up really 😂 I have a Canon 650D which I'm going to use but only have the standard lens that came with it. I have been looking at the RedCat 51 though so that may be the next purchase. My current telescope is a Dobsonian 200p which I've owned for years but never really used it till late last year. After watching a YouTube video on how to capture the Orion Nebula through it on camera, It's a shocking image but that's gave me the bug to learn and get better.
  19. I have just received my Star Adventurer 😆.. Having no experience with imaging I've got a lot to learn but I cannot wait to get started. Some of these images you guys have posted are stunning BTW
