  1. Final stage of processing in GIMP. "Colorify" in "Colours , select the Yellow box then "Custom" , then knock the Green level down to 230 from 255 ... 😉
  2. Glorious blue sky and a seeing forecast of 5/4 .... needless to say the forecast was hogwash ...
  3. The problem with the north Norfolk coast these days is the abundance of offshore gas platforms and windfarms that are lit up like Blackpool Illuminations. Last time I drove all the way up to Cley when there was a very good chance of visual aurora , from the car park I could make out a glow over the shingle bank you have to climb to see the sea and rushed up expectantly with camera and tripod only to be met with what looked like a ten mile long construction site about four miles out , I've seen dimmer lights at stadiums for night games ... I don't even think about making the trek these days.
  4. A shot is a shot sir , never apologise for catching a glimpse ... 😉
  5. A few blue patches that wouldn't line up so I was left shooting through the hazy mushy mess ...
  6. Sorry to see it's as bad at night as it is during the day Pete ... 😔
  7. And here's all 550 frames I shot with the 2000D cropped and saved as a video to show just what I caught ... 😃 A good representation of the seeing too ... Luckily I had the presence of mind not to delete all the sets after my selection process as is my usual MO , realised there was something unusual that needed further investigation ... 😉
  8. Dreadful seeing again but grabbed a few ...
  9. Especially the poor old photosphere chaps , everyone loves all that fancy-pants Ha stuff ... 🤣
  10. My stuff goes on Solarchat before SGL ... 😉 While I'm waiting for the blue to appear I'm going to pop all 700 odd frames I shot through PIPP to see exactly how much I caught ... !
  11. Thanks ... 🙂 I definitely caught flaring this time , here's the SDO Continuum data showing exactly what I was seeing in preview and capture and the corresponding AIA 304 data ... 😍
  12. Not quite steady enough for the 2000D but I had a go anyway , a closer inspection of data and a restack probably needed later. There was a lot of bright 'crackling' in the large spot ... flare caught in "white" ... ? Here are the stacked frames cropped in PIPP and saved as an AVI ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LoBL5yRQl4
  13. Not sure which Suffolk border you're on but here just east of Newmarket I regularly see similar lights which are invariably turning aircraft to the south in the Stansted holding pattern . I also get numerous military helicopters but they tend to be much closer to the horizon.
  14. Check out Cuiv's videos on narrowband filters , he's very informative and knowledgable ... https://www.youtube.com/c/CuivTheLazyGeek/videos
  15. Quick grab as I had a late start today ...
  16. https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/latest48.php?q=0304
  17. Great start there. I just use Canon's EOS Utility for focus monitoring and capture. The 'ghost' image is merely a misaligned frame or two . Try running the frames through PIPP first to centre and crop the frames and then use Autostakkert instead of Reg for stacking (reserving Reg for the Wavelets function on the resulting stack)
  18. Going to be away from the Sun for a few weeks apart from weekends so glad I could catch something today , even if it's a bit flat ... 🙄
  19. Not even a hint of Sun here today , so here's a lovely film to keep you entertained for a few minutes instead ... 😉 https://www.filmarkivet.se/movies/solformorkelse-1914/
  20. Somedays you just have to concede defeat ... 🤣
