  1. β€œWould you trust one of these with your precious?” Sorry, but no πŸ₯΄
  2. Hello @SteveJR73 and welcome to SGL. Given the wishes/requirements you have talked about there is a good option - a Dobsonian telescope. An 8” Dobsonian is very capable and will show you details on the Moon and planets that will surprise you. The scope has enough aperture to see all the brighter deep sky objects too. They are also very affordable. First Light Optics is a good supplier and they stock 3 different ones, but they are all much the same so it’s a personal choice. This is an example and falls nicely in your budget….. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/bresser-telescopes/bresser-messier-8-dobsonian-telescope.html Hope that helps
  3. Hang on - it was Halloween, so….. VAMPIRE bats πŸ‘ΉπŸŽƒπŸ˜ˆ
  4. PS @Baldurth, there are no silly questions - feel free to ask many questions, you will always get help on Stargazers Lounge πŸ‘

    Hi

Welcome Chris - don’t forget the planets, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus are all visible in the evening now
  6. I would suggest you set the scope up during the day and point it at a distant land object using the finder and then see if you can get a decent image through the 25mm eyepiece by adjusting the focuser
  7. Aah, in that case I would just stay with the 130P, I don’t think the Skymax will bring anything more visually. Also for best performance your scope needs to be well collimated and cooled. Hope that helps.
  8. The Heritage 130P is very capable, it might be worth sticking with it. If anything perhaps add a refractor to the mix.
  9. Maybe, just maybe tomorrow eveningβ€¦β€¦πŸ€ž
  10. That looks just like I saw Saturn for the first time - amazing
  11. Not sure sand in an OTA is a good idea in the long term but sawdust is πŸ‘
  12. Would not want to balance my 29 grand scope like that on a dark, icy night 😱
  13. It’s amazing how much work goes into making a telescope, that one is a stunner, thanks for posting the video πŸ™‚
  14. Hello from another newbie and welcome πŸ™‚
  15. I think the left one is slightly better at the poles and the right one at the equator. Overall, I prefer the one on the right, but that could have been due to seeing ? Both are good πŸ‘
  16. That’s a really good idea @FLO πŸ‘
  17. @Kon If your 200P is equatorially mounted then you are a star πŸ‘ If your 200p is mounted on a dob then you are a superstar πŸ₯³
  18. My worst purchase was a Celestron C9.25, it was supposed to be the SCT to have but it had terrible optical performance πŸ˜•
  19. Those are lively images. The new little one looks really cute πŸ™‚
