Moon over a Turkish mosque

Those minarets are certainly photogenic.

I love the sound of the call to prayer. Where we stop in Marmaris has a couple mosques within ear shot. The call to prayer echoes off the surrounding mountains giving it a beautiful eerie tone. It travels a long way in the hot, stifling, summer air.

Which reminds me, this is the first year we haven't been to Turkey for about 10 years. As it happens, given my shift rota, we'd be there right now if the in-laws had been fit to travel.

Maybe next year...

I was initially up in the mountain on the Georgian-Turkish border doing a commissioning job and the night skies would have been spectacular there ...except for the fact that the gas compressor station I was working on was in the floodlights of the actual border crossing, so totally washed out skies in the middle of nowhere.
